Cathay reopens The Bridge lounge

I believe @Cruiser Elite was in transit from PVG.

It can be even harder to find the entrance to the "Wing" lounges in transit, because the they're usually above you (as you say, same level as departure immigration/security (turn left for CX and right for QF).

Lost track of the number of times I've walked the length of the CX Wing F/J downstairs to get the far entrance when there's a sneaky F entrance right near the entrance from land side...
Sneaky? Really? I suppose if you didn't know it's there, that's fair. Never thought of it that way, though.

Looking forward to seeing what we get when they reopen. Missing Shar's welcomes the last few months.

It's obvious when you're departing from Hong Kong - turn left and it's just there but only F lounge peeps can enter there. J Lounge entrance is down and along at Gate 2.

But it's not well signposted when transiting was the point. Slightly counter intuitive to be a spawning salmon going against the PAX entering the departures area and you end up at the Gate 2 entrance (turn left for J, turn right for F)... A few weeks ago we held our nerve and found the correct escalators up.

We were there just before it closed and the food at the Pier was significantly better than the Wing. Yes, interesting to see if they make them a bit more similar - but retain their unique bits each.

Ah with you now. My bad dude. The transit bit slipped my beleaguered old brain.

There certainly used to be a secondary entrance to the Wing F at ground level nr Gate 3 if I recall, adjacent to the main Wing J entrance.

But obviously if departing HKG you wouldn't use it.
(And similar for the QF lounge - you can actually use that back entrance to transfer to CX Deck lounge)

That’s the main lounge complex entrance from the departures level (I think it’s Gate 2 but could be 3).

My personal take in terms of CX lounges: Pier F >> Pier J >> Bridge >> Deck >> All Wing

Pier J trumps in terms of food offering, while Bridge to the right (Asian part) is often super quiet, and the Nook has excellent Asian food.

As for breakfast: Pier J >> Pier F

Definitely Gate 2 but in all honesty the apparent confusion of lounge locations by those posting here IMO is just a true reflection of a total dogs breakfast the entire layout of HKG Terminal is - and as for that stupid Transfer process HTF do occasional travellers ever know to transfer via W, E1 or E2 - certainly makes SIN a dream to traverse.

Strangely, several here don't like the security at the Gate in SIN, but yes it makes transferring a lot quicker. Apart from KUL, not too many other airports use that system, it's mostly central re-screening for onward connections.

At least HKIA has multiple screening points and some smaller (quieter) secondary points (which sometimes might be behind you when you exit the inbound aircraft). I saved the maps in this article on my iPad to remind me where to head - assuming I know my onward gate and hopefully can head to the Pier F (which is a hell of a lot easier to find).

I’m transiting through HKG for the first time in a few weeks and this whole thread has been incredibly helpful and informative — thanks AFFers!
