Dublin to Sydney on a budget help required.

Come back and let us know what you end up doing please @bobthebuilder966
Hello all,
Thanks so much for all the help and guidance back in May, being honest i was probably still worried and unwell when i wrote the message (suffered panic attacks which i never had before).
Anyway this thread helped me focus from the very start.
We have booked about 4 weeks ago . We are all so excited.
5200 Euro was the final cost. Really happy with that.
As Aeryn mentioned we are going with Turkish airlines Dublin Istanbul then we stay overnight for free in a hotel choice of about 12 hotels 4 star all look lovely.
We really start our journey after that ,Ist to Kuala lumpur ,lay over for an hour half, then onto Syd.
Total 46 hours yes its long but we take in Istanbul.
28 hours on the way home.
We actually went all in and decided once in a lifetime so we decided to go earlier 8th December to 6th of January.
We have reduced our spending as much as we can...i am have also been selling quite a bit of used toys bikes ,electronics buggies ect that were in great condition for reasonable prices. We badly needed to clear out anyway.
Now all we need is visas ,insurance and to book Santa any ideas? Is there any good locations with Santa that don't fleece us ,i saw harbor bridge climb with Santa for about 900 dollars a family. In saying all that Santa in shorts will probably do us just fine so strange.
Thanks again for yere generosity with time looking into stuff for me,

Good to hear it's all sorted! :)

The Santa thing ... honestly I have zero idea, what you'd like makes absolute sense but it's just never occurred to me before! Are they of an age where they'd be satisfied by just going to a shopping centre and sitting in his lap (that's the only vaguely-similar thing which occurs to me).

Yes they would, but I think it will be such a novelty they will want to see heaps of Santas in shorts!
Btw I don't think kids sit on laps anymore.!
I really think it's our last Santa they of course want to visit real fella...

I will ask our daughter in law in Sydney what she knows of Santa's in shorts. The grandson is 7 and we have a series of photos with Santa. Normally the Santa's in shopping centres have the full outfit

There are lots of free community events in Sydney to celebrate Christmas. Many are run by local councils. It’s a fun time of the year for kids! Just google free Christmas activities and bit closer to time and I’m sure you’ll find a lot of good ideas.

Many Aussie families will take a picnic to one of the beaches in Sydney in the late afternoon on Christmas Day and any time of the day on Boxing Day. The kids could have a dip (only swim between the flags on a patrolled beach). I’d avoid Bondi - it’s famous for sure but the atmosphere can get a bit rowdy and maybe not that family friendly. Sydney members might be able to suggest nicer, quieter beaches.

There will be a big free fireworks display on New Year’s Eve - kid’s session typically at 9pm might be best. Again you can find details for best vantage points on line closer to time.

A ferry ride to Manly for fish and chips on the beach is also a fun family activity. Not free, but not too expensive either.

I could take a bit of a stab at that, with some parameters … where’s the accommodation, is it public transport or rental car, and will the young’uns be wanting to play in surf or will something a bit calmer be preferable?
