People have sent AirTags to North Korea and they still pinged!

Where did you go that the AirTags dropped off the radar?
Semi-regional Indonesia. I suspect the airtag didn't ping as online until it came within range of my iPad (i don't even currently use an iPhone myself). Looking around the room of people waiting at the baggage carousel, lots of android devices - of course there could have been i-things in pockets or bags.

I was interested in the carry on bag but noting it weighs 3.2kg I caused me to immediately lose interest.

A note inside my exisiting (lightweight) carry on bag reminding me to check the airtag will fine for the moment.

I actually prefer the BYO tracker approach rather than having something built in. I'd prefer to use an AirTag because you get precision finding. Plus it's easy to change to a new one if a better version comes out.
