Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

9 to JQ and 4 to Network (QF).
I have a suspicion that all 9 will go to Jetstar and 4 older A320s in Jetstar’s current fleet will go to Network. Same same just clever wording.

Network only gets the old rust buckets, Jetstar Asia has a newer fleet, these incoming aircraft are much newer compared to anything Network has. Jetstar has 4 more VH-VQ* models left in the fleet, the rest already went to Network. I’d say these will be sent to Network which leaves Jetstar with a fleet 2008 built onwards.

3K has 13 A320s, but I could see this potentially happening.

3K also has two oddball A320s that are ex Tiger/Scoot. Wouldn't be surprised if they end up at Network.

All 2010-2013 deliveries so no real younger/older aircraft . The ex Tiger/Scoot birds have the freshest paint jobs being relatively recent acquisitions.

Guess it all depends on how much they want to spend on refits or paint.

Having a look it seems like the below Jetstar aircraft, which are all the oldest, have finished up within the last week or two.

VQC ferries to BNE and parked
VQF ferries to China last week. Network conversions have been done here
VQJ also ferried to China last week to
VQK ferried to Seletar last week.

That would make sense. Those 4 will go to Network which will be replaced by the Jetstar Asia fleet.

A flow on effect of the shutdown of Jetstar Asia, I wonder how long now JQ7/8 (MEL-SIN services) will last? It often carried through traffic to the Jetstar Asia network, but that has now all evaporated. It was cancelled again today, and that makes 3 out of the last 8 scheduled services cancelled (cancelled Mon 28th, Sat 2nd and Tue 5th).

I didn't mention the 9 hour delay either last Thursday (which my partner's mother was on originally, but decided a redeye wasn't worth it and moved to the next day). It's very much rolling the dice with that service. Is OK if visiting friends and relatives, and you have access to personal residences in SIN & MEL (as in our case), and particularly if retired or if you can effectively WFH. This is probably a small subset of passengers. But if you're on a tight schedule, and worried about accommodation costs, it could be quite problematic.

I Swear, that JQ7/8 service is the most unreliable!
I guess it’s an easy one for them to cancel with other options like QF or JQ via DPS whereas other ports aren’t serviced by other QF group airlines making it harder to recover.

I was on the final KUL-SIN service, and there were loads of onboard announcements from crew/pilots.
You could see the sadness and emotion in their faces and hear it in their voices.

A large % of the pax had booked that flight knowing it was the final service.

Sad to see them go - mainly because Air Asia sucks and Jetstar was a fantastic alternative.
