CX New Regional Business Class

Just saw this on Cathay's Instagram page:



Seems like mainly just a visual refresh of the cabin on the A330-300 and B777-300s that have this regional config - no real changes in terms of seat layout although lay-flat seating is a welcome addition compared to recliners.

Would have been nice to see a proper 1-2-1 long haul business class product to keep things consistent, more competitive (eliminating the chance of getting the inferior 2-2-2 / 2-3-2 layouts) as well as giving them flexibility to deploy on long haul routes, but I guess this would be better than nothing.

Intensely dislike those regional seats… feel like i’m perched forward the whole time A refresh isnt going to fix that unfortunately.

Particularly on red eyes and they’ve subbed your full flat for those….

Fully agree.

As mentioned, I think it would have been beneficial to both the airline and customers had they gone with a 1-2-1 business class layout throughout their fleet, both long and short haul (bar the narrowbodies)

Not only would it be advantageous to us as customers in having certainty as to what product to expect, but also to them in that they could deploy their regional aircraft worldwide too, considering it would be the same product.

Oh well, I guess profits over what's best for the customer.

They are replacing them, however.

AFAIK, these old configs are the former Cathay Dragon aircraft - hence the “Regional” config to start with.
