With JQ announcing BNE-CEB and PER-MNL yesterday what are some routes you hope they have in the pipeline for the rest of the year,

There was speculation they have been considering MEL-TWB and ADL-CBR May be in talks.

Personally as an ADL local I’m hoping ADL-AVV comes back this year and still feel they could tap into a few routes in ADL like AYQ, AKL again LST etc.

Surprised they cant make a go of once or twice daily AVV-ADL and/or daily AVV-PER.

Wonder if a route to MEL or BNE or OOL/MCY/CNS would work out of WOL.

No incentive to serve MQL when QantasLink serve already but surprised once daily from SYD or MEL isn’t viable.

Do they have the fleet for significant expansion on these routes?

Some others (would kill Rex….):
CNS-TSV, SYD-CFS, BNE-ISA, 2-3x/ weekly SYD-BHQ

Can WOL even take an A320 in RPT operations?

Could actually be good to see Jetstar have a smaller plane type to put on routes that don't quite support 180+ seat aircraft, although that undermines the low cost model (and could undermine the very profitable QantasLink). Not common, but some LCC's do operate smaller aircraft (such as Scoot and Indigo)

I’d say Melbourne to Toowoomba will eventuate when they can get the right deal in place.

Melbourne to Mackay in peak I’d say is likely probable. A route that Tiger and Bonza ran that was relatively ok during peak.

Bonza did well on Melbourne to Bundy so not sure if that’s an option.

Townsville to Bali seasonal? Perhaps a trial might eventuate.

I’d like to see Jetstar swap out QF into Broome to reduce some of those stupidly high prices.

They will go where the financial incentives are also. Adelaide so often stump up funds in this space.

TSV to DPS was trialled previously by JQ and only lasted a few seasons with some of the load coming up from BNE as the aircraft worked a BNE-TSV-DPS-TSV-BNE rotation.

May be a better chance of JQ operating MCY-DPS seasonal during the local winter months at 2-3 weekly (operated by the DPS base) as an "Escape from the Cold" of the Sunshine Coast (as well as attract those from the Northern Brisbane suburbs and Gympie/Fraser regions).

The only issue with Jetstar going into Bundy or Albury is they will likely just be diminishing group margin (ie the QF services, most who connect on high prices fares across the nation). At a group profit pool level, for these regional like markets they are probably better off leaving QF alone without adding JQ directs. Sadly the dual brand strategy at play.

Would actually be nice for Jetstar to look at Asian beach/holiday destinations beyond just Bali and coughet? Or is it that Australians just aren't interested? I guess Cebu is a start. But places like Krabi, Danang, Lombok, Nha Trang etc come to mind.

JQ has operated there previously:
