Flights resume from December 1.
2nd daily operated by a 77W, and is funded by the WA Government and PAPL.

When was the last time EK were twice daily, was axed before Covid I think?

IIRC, it was 2x A380 flights a day way back, then changed to 1x A380 and 1x B777 well before the big C.

Whether the B777 flight was axed before, or because of, the big C I can't recall but I rather think the former.

Didn't EK have three daily flights at one stage?

I just wish they'd add Y+ flights to PER. You'd think that make a killing on that given the lack of Y+ options out of Perth.

They did...pre QR

Qantas , Air New Zealand, Cathy Pacific and being cheeky scoot I think offer PE. Is there any more ?

Looks like it lasted less than a year?

Can’t say I’m surprised- the timing of this flight was very unpopular - poor arrival and dept time and there’s QRs / VA extra DOH flights to compete with.

It's just far to expensive. ...especially in the premium cabins. If the price was right and it was competitive it would not matter what time of day. Heck look at Malaysian flights times and/or aircraft ex PER. The EK aircraft type (777) never popular in biz.

I think the MH timings are reasonable. A 2am departure means that you can have the full day in Perth, head to the airport after dinner and arrive KUL early the next day - perfect for daytime flights to many of their Asian destinations.

On the other hand, a 6am departure means arriving at PER airport at 4am and departing your hotel or home at 3am...

I don't think flight times play a huge part of it. It will suit some and be horrible for others. I'll never fly MH out of PER with a 2am departure. For me, it means a loss a night's sleep. Doesn't matter how convenient the next morning's flight to somewhere else is, I'll be arriving wrecked so just not worth it. However, to others this is perfect.

I agree. Quite often, as well, that MH 02.10 leaves after 3am. Nightmare.
