But is there space under the seats in front of the middle seat in row 3? From memory there's no space in front because it's where the legs of the business class seats in Row 2 are.

Not for the middle seat the centre console for the J seats is right in the middle of the middle seat and offers very little under seat room.

If I'm in the centre of row 3, I just put my things under the seats in front, either to the right of the left seat or to the left of the right seat, which is still in line with either my left or right legs (in front of my seat).
The centre console in row 2 to the floor doesn't take up the entire width of a row 3 seat.
I've never had anyone look at me strangely for doing it, it's obvious that's the only choice, other than overhead, which isn't convenient for many items, such as a laptop, man bag, purse etc that you might want quick access to later.

Yes, and anything other than a small flat pack will not fit in the area under the seat in front of the 3B/3E PAX.

Mind you, in the prior config, no bags could be on the floor in front of Row 3 PAX for takeoff/landing.

Having sat in a "new" 3B recently, it's not too bad. Certainly not as much leg room (but still an "extra" legroom row) as the old config however you can now put a small bag under in front of you, rather than having to put everything up in the overhead. Admittedly I wouldn't pay much for it - may as well pay to upgrade to J - but as a WP I'll certainly take the freebie.

Yes! Between F and J.

It’s standard in the US across carriers that use curtains. They’re not allowed to have opaque curtains for security reasons.

For narrow bodies they either have plastic dividers hanging from the overhead above the last row of first, or they have very short curtains you can drag across to top of the last row of F.

Dunno why VA didn’t go with the latter… a two-second install.

I have over 200 AA flights and am very familiar with that type of curtain - dates back over 10 years. Before that, after 911, USA airlines were not permitted any curtain.

Had the curtain on VH-VOO tonight. It did the job quite well.

A few tried to get through but couldn't work out how to unclip it from the seats. After fumbling around, they gave up and went down the back.

You seem to have bad luck when it comes to VA. I fly between Melbourne and Sydney very regularly and cannot recall an instance where tea and coffee hasn't been served, apart from the odd flight with bad turbulence. Outside of the ultra short sectors like MEL-LST, in my 90-100 VA sectors per year, they're pretty consistent with the tea and coffee.

IME, you can still get tea and coffee in J on the shorter sectors (probably depends on the CM). In Y though, there are no hot beverages with flight times of under 55 minutes.

I got offered coffee and tea MEL-CBR but that was back in 2024 probably before the rules changed.
Fam took MEL-HBA yesterday only water offered in Y.
Hopefully return HBA-MEL should offer coffee/tea.

I wouldn't be too worried, it's just brown hot water, food colouring additive gives the appearance of coffee.
