It’s not known as the “Qantas Pub” for nothing…The lounge is meant to be a quiet area, not a pub.

Too soon to suggest Alice Merton's "Hit the ground running"?
On the strength of this small - and no doubt statistically unrepresentative - sample size, I'm guessing that Qantas didn't socialise this idea with a focus group of lounge membersThe fun police is out in force in this thread!
Guess they prefer the sounds of screaming kids and roudy businessmen.

I'd rather the lounges stop making boarding calls and final boarding calls. Silent lounges in that respect is the way to go. Music whatever, rather that then listen to the people yelling into their phones on speaker. The fun police is out in force in this thread!

Airline lounges on Friday afternoons are never quiet.

Get the basics up to scratch then move onto the fancy stuff.

Because having music in the lounge is going to distract kitchen staff?
Or just ordinary conversation with the hearing challenged. It was impossible to talk to my parents when the Newcastle pub band kicked in. Not impressedThe fun police is out in force in this thread!

Or - and this might be controversial - refuse access to anyone under 21.I'd happily see them confine children under 12 to a small designated Family Area within the lounges.
And perhaps a few that should never be played under any circumstances such as Everly Brothers’ “Ebony Eyes”.Maybe it would work better if they themed the songs? For example...
- "Come Fly With Me" – Frank Sinatra
- "Learning to Fly" – Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
- "Jet Airliner" – Steve Miller Band
- "Vertigo" – U2
- "Free Fallin’" – Tom Petty
- "Should I Stay or Should I Go" – The Clash
- "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" – Beastie Boys
- "Right Here Waiting" – Richard Marx
- "Leaving on a Jet Plane" – Peter, Paul and Mary
- "The Passenger" – Iggy Pop
- "Homeward Bound" – Simon & Garfunkel
- etc etc
Really? Didn't cross your mind that 'we' may prefer a more relaxing environment all round? You know, like Qantas advertises:
“a quiet environment away from the bustle of the airport”.![]()
Odd comment. No, because I'd prefer management provide decent food & bev (which will cost more) rather than adding expense of the musicians. Not a difficult concept, really. But you go to the Qantas Club and groove along on a Friday arvo; I mean, thats what people do, isn't it? Maybe they'll introduce karaoke ...
What makes you think that it's an improvement? And a "C" grade band doesn't sound that great. If you're going to have live music, why not light classical, by a professional ensemble. That would go down better perhaps. But the best solution, IMO, is not to have live music at all. Saves money and offends less people. They shouldn’t be discouraged on making improvements in any area just because it’s not the area that bothers you.
