General Medical issues thread

Yes we know.

In my experience inflammation is a funny beast. It can come and go. It might be bad for 2-3 weeks and then it goes away and may not come back.
I’m mot sure bursitis comes and goes like that. I’ll defer to the doctors here!

I was diagnosed with it in both hips around Sept last year (via ultrasound). The cortisone injection in one hip a few weeks ago has been the first thing to make a significant difference to the pain.

As always YMMV, but bursitis felt like constant discomfort to frequent pain for me.

I've had bursitis in the hip and in the shoulder.

With the hip I tried lots of different treatment, physio, medication. One of the last resort after 6 months was the cortisone injection. Its took two days and then it was gone, it was amazing and I wondered why I took so long to have the injection.

Late last year I had bursitis of the shoulder. My immediate thought was cortisone injection. I had to wait 10 days until I could get it done, a backlog in treatments. The doctor ended up injected my shoulder 5 times all at once, painful.
However it was very different with the result. Very little relief even after 3 weeks and more. My physio said that hip cortisone injections were much more successful than shoulders, as the shoulder had more bursers.

I was speaking from personal experience. Make of it what you will.

Current GP mentioned he had bursitis around 5-6 years ago, had a single cortisone injection and bursitis has not come back.

I had both tendonitis and bursitis in the collarbone area starting from base of neck to the AC joint at top of arm. Sharp pain used to make me jump and be extremely sore for days. More than likely caused by ten pin bowling and golf. I stopped ten pin bowling in 2005 but never stopped golf for more than 1 week or so. Pain never radiated anywhere other than collarbone. I can't remember when it stopped but it pretty much stopped and that same pain returns occasionally but not as sharp as I had previously.

I self medicate. Yes that may not be a good thing but I don't care. What I care about is how I feel. I can pretty much cope with any pain but I have serious chronic pain everywhere. Yes everywhere. Not a joke. Not an exaggeration. If I were a horse you'd put me down.

The left Rib area is locked. Has caused issues in my golf swing in that I cannot rotate upper body properly. Both hips have osteoarthritis. This has caused the most issues in golf swing as I cannot get any hip turn needed to generate power in golf swing. Constant pain which gets worse when I walk. It's not uncommon to see my right hand holding my back while walking using back of trousers as support. And the worse of the lot is neck pain. Left side of neck is locked and pain across the back of neck. Non stop. There is not a single second of the day there is no pain there. Awful feeling. Depressing.

I try not to take any medicine. In the morning I had 2 Panadeine Forte. The pain in neck became numb although I could still feel a dull pain. I took another 2 Panadeine Forte late at night and this time had no effect. That's enough Panadeine Forte for a while. I do have Tramadol 100mg sustained release but try not to take often. If I'm still in pain in the morning I may take 2 x Panadol Osteo, Mobic + Tramadol. A lot of pills but it's necessary some of the time but not often.

Life is torture but I'm not giving up.
