A question for the lurkers on AFF...

I know a serial lurker who lurks all over the place. Her lurking is based on the premise that if you can't contribute anything useful, don't contribute. This form of lurking could be considered either as an inferiority complex, believing you have nothing useful to contribute, or, alternatively, excellent judgement, recognising that you have nothing useful to contribute.
There is of course the addictive lurker who knows, once they contribute, they're going to be hooked, so they choose not to open the bottle!

I am a long time lurker :). I am a member because i enjoy reading all the posts and all the info is super useful and has helped me plan trips. Other than regular work trips from a regional base to Adelaide, my personal trips are fairly sparse (ie once every 4-5 years for international and once per 1-2 years for domestic) so i feel i dont generally have any valuable input to add to this forum. So far, i have found the answers to all my questions as the search function works well - so thanks everyone! I have thought about doing a trip report but never got around to it.... 🤔

I would consider myself a lurker. It's for a number or reasons. I don't feel qualified to make suggestions for most things as there are so many more experienced people out there than me. I don't want to look stupid if I ask a question that others consider unworthy or irrelevant and I have seen the occasional conversation go a bit sidetracked and appear to get a bit snarky but that may be people who know each other and have a connections that allows for them to give cheek that I am not privy too. I have started to ask a few questions and am very thankful to everyone who has responded but I supposed it's one of those things that unless you have something interesting to say, say nothing :) and yes I sat on this for a while before I posted it.

Glad you decided to post it @Netty :)

Don't hesitate to ask questions when you have them or can't find the information - there's always someone who's going to be willing and able to assist point you in the right direction or provide their knowledge and experience 👍

I’m another person to add my welcome to you @Netty.

It can be daunting when you feel like you have a dumb question, but I got myself started with posting by adopting 2 things I’d heard around in other contexts.
1. Don’t die wondering! (For @wandering_fred that’s wondering, not wandering!)
2. And if you are wondering something, it’s pounds to peanuts that someone else is wondering the same thing, so ask for them too.

Helped me overcome my fear of posting.

Some people on here are snarky - that dirt is everywhere. But many are very kind and helpful.

Edit: to add the rest of my post. I shouldn’t use my phone for this without my glasses.

Edit : DYAC
