Email just landed in my inbox. "From 1 July 2025, the mix KrisFlyer miles and cash rate to offset the cost of flight tickets on Singapore Airlines and Scoot will be improved, where 100 miles will be equivalent to SGD 1. Similarly, the redemption rate for the three SIA Group entities, Kris+, KrisShop and Pelago, will be adjusted and standardised, where 100 miles will be equivalent to SGD 1."
Seems to be aimed at spend other than outright redemptions. For a few hopeful minutes I thought it may be on award redemptions.

I would not mix up Pelengo or Kris+ with the SQ frequent flyer program. I think they have been trying to drive up usage since the release of these 2 programs / apps. I personally use Kris+ to pay for bubble tea and ramen, and outlets I talked to told me that they do get a few customers paying with Kris+. Having said that, Kris+ have been doing the weekly check-in challenge basically since its arrival into Australia which is giving free money away every week (and I get them every week), and there are also plenty of promos as well (like right now, there is spend $30 or more anywhere using Kris+ with MasterCard and get $6 back, or spend $5 x 3 times at cafes and get $5 back). I mean, I wonder if they are making money from this when they are giving so much free money away.

That makes more sense as I wasn't familiar with Kris+,. Obviously trying to market in Aus. I wonder how widespread the usage is.

I have asked this question at shops, and I have been told that I wasn't the only person paying with Kris+. However, I also doubt as to the number of people who use it for payment, since they are giving away so much free money. I would benefit from it a lot if I have a job in the city of Sydney or Melbourne.

Spend $15 get $5 back. That's buy 2 coffee get 1 free.

I do recommend people to use this app if they are around Melbourne or Sydney CBD. Paying with Kris+ means you avoid card payment surcharge at retailers, on top of whatever promo Kris+ throws you.

Ah yes, well some if us live in places unknown to most including Aussies 🙂
