Wendouree allocations and general discussion

Hi there,

I am new to Wendouree and I was wondering if there has been a Shiraz release every year since its first release? I have seen them come up on auctions a bit and was thinking i might try and collect one of each vintage shiraz to do a side by side comparison one day.

The answer is no. And given the shiraz started from vines in the 1890's this isn't surprising. Without going back and looking in detail at my purchase records, I think 2007 was one year where it wasn't produced. But there are others.

It will also be exceptionally hard to gather a vertical run of any length. And the price will be likely be astronomical. Don't forget that there has been a 6 bottle limit on shiraz for decades.

I recently supplied another AFF member with an 11 year vertical run of the shiraz (2012-2022) and it was a mamoth effort to get that quantity of Wendouree together as I'm sure it was for that member to get together the 11 year vertical run of Basket Press for the swap.

Thanks for your reply.

I was thinking of trying to do a couple of 5 year verticals from the late 90's on. I have some 1999, 2009 and 2010 shiraz at the moment that I wanted to build upon and fill in the gaps where I could.

I haven't been able to find much in terms of a concise list of releases and vintage for Wendouree over the years which was why I thought id ask and see what years the Shiraz may not have been released.

I will add 2007 to my list for no releases. If anymore come to mind, I'll add those too so i am not chasing non-existent vintages. :)
