I was at Tallinn Airport yesterday and was surprised to see gym equipment in the departures hall. It was free for anyone to just go and use.

Apparently it's a new thing:

I would actually love to do a bit of a workout before boarding my flight. My only thought is... there's no showers. Would you really want to sit next to someone on your flight who's just done a full workout and is probably sweaty?

If I would use this equipment, I'd probably want to head up to the lounge afterwards for a shower before boarding my flight. But I don't think the lounge at TLL has showers...

Interesting concept, but i suspect a pay to use gym with showers would be more practical and also allows for better equipment maintenance.

Personally I reckon a small couple of lanes of 25m lap pool would be better exercise and you'd just smell like chlorine instead of sweat.

AA Admirals Lounge in DFW Terminal A had a small room with some treadmills/rowers around 8 years ago.

Not sure if it's still there, but I enjoyed a jog/shower before jumping onto the QF8.

Nice that there are also showers nearby to this one!
yeh it’s right next door in the spa ! my habit of taking photos of everything and anything on my travels just in case i needed it for a trip report is paying off 😅

actually I misremembered - the shower facility and gym were in the health club - the spa is separate…

As a self diagnosed fitness addict (I may or may not be travelling the LA in July for the weekend just for a fitness conference) I'm torn on this idea. On one hand I love the option to have a dedicated space to train I have completed my planned mobility work on floor of a business lounge. But it's the lack of showers for me which is the main concern in particular people not using them. Based off the small sample on this thread only it mainly will be used just for the cardio aspect which I get from just walking laps of the terminal

The gym area at TLL also had a section that isn't in the photo (there were people using it so I didn't want to photograph them) with weights and strength training equipment/machines (not sure of the technical term for this).

Thanks @Mattg I actually saw the red mats in the article and honestly from what photos in the article it looked like a decent gym just for a short session
