One accompanying guest permitted and must be travelling on QF, JQ or oneworld®# marketed and operated flight on the same day.

Unsure if this is answered elsewhere but thought I'd ask: does one earn status credits if they are a Points Club member travelling on a partner operated classic award if the classic award carries a QF flight number? For instance, flying KLM business award but it's got a QF flight number?

Correct. There are a couple of exceptions SB is/used to be one.

The QF search might show a QF codeshare for sale (eg EK and FJ) but if you click through to CR it switches the code to operating carrier.

Also, to get a KL operated, QF codeshare (eg SIN-AMS), I would expect that to have to be booked with a QF feeder flight from Oz.

It’s not KL by the way I simply used it as an example to hide the identity of this “opportunity” and it’s not originating or terminating in Oz either.

I also used non KL examples but if not originating or terminating in Oz, the chances of getting a QF code on a partner CR would be close to zero.

Agree. I cannot think of an example that fits KF88’s question, revenue or award. You’d need QF to have fifth freedom rights, and one of the rare exceptions where you have a codeshare award.

I believe the t&c does include it and the consensus from memory was that it should - who knows in practise though. If you have found such a flight you'll probably need to test it.

Question: Does searching/booking an open jaw flight itinerary on the QF multi-city tool produce outcomes that are price competitive/reasonable vs. non-open jaw flight itineraries?

I am thinking about flights to Egypt/Jordan etc for some travel this year and I was thinking about booking an open jaw ticket across multiple cities so I could fill in some internal local/regional flights with local carriers.

I'm thinking something like this:

Outbound: Melbourne - Dubai(or Doha) - Cairo

Inbound: Jordan - Dubai(or Doha) (Including a stopover of say 5 or so days) - Melbourne

If I kept the intermediate city (Dubai/Doha) the same on both legs would the QF multi-city tool price this close to a "standard" return flight of Melbourne-Cairo-Melbourne or Melbourne-Jordan-Melbourne? Or is this something that a TA would be better placed to price?

I guess it is the open-jaw aspect of the itinerary that has me puzzled over the pricing.

It’s a simple open jaw. Compare the price on Qantas vs googleflights.

Just keep the transit point the same - either dubai or doha.

Same same as flying in to London, but out of paris.
