im hoping they also stole luggage from Las Vegas airport, flying Delta, we lost 1 piece of luggage back in March 2009 and it has never ever been found, only got the reimbursement from Delta 5 weeks ago for the lost luggage (which will pay for my next trip to USA) :)

Sounds like he was getting sloppy.

Mr King was placed under surveillance after first being arrested three weeks ago when an officer saw him park at the airport, take a piece of luggage from a baggage claim carousel and get back into his car.

Questions is, what punishment fits the crime. They were stealing to re-sell, and there's probably over a thousand counts, so it's pretty serious for them.

I remember an Australia woman who was caught a year ago or so, but she didn't sell them, she collected them. Still pretty bad.

I didn't read it as being taken to re-sell, but putting a few bits out in garage sales could be taken to clear the space. With the amount they had on hand, it sounded like they were more looking for valuables and the stuff just piled up.

Scum, and idiots too... going back for more after being caught by police!

I was very nervous when it took 1 1/2 hours to get thru LAX's Immigation line.

Finally we (and Americans using 'our' entry area) got thru, and VA's staff were there minding the suitcases.:D

The article said they stopped checking baggage receipts 10 years ago to cut costs. I don't know if that menat nationally or just Phoenix but the only time in 20 years of overseas travel that staff have checked that I had my own bag was in LAX in 1989. That was after a flight from HNL so it was domestic.

Pretty easy to get away with it although over time you'd think they'd be checking security footage after a pattern of bags going missing emerged. Probably indicates how poor security footage (or the monitoring thereof) really is in general.
