"As Jetstar celebrates 20 years since first taking to the skies, the low-fares airline is announcing its 100th domestic route – operating daily between Brisbane and Avalon from 28 June.

Today’s route launch follows a partnership with Brisbane Airport announced last year which unlocked about half a million new seats between Brisbane and some of the most popular international destinations on the Jetstar network.

To celebrate the new service, Jetstar will launch a 12-hour sale from 11am AEST (12pm AEDT) Wednesday 27 March 2024, offering one-way fares between Melbourne (Avalon) and Brisbane from just $49"

I think I flew this route at least 15-20 years ago. It was a late night flight back then also.

Avalon/Perth resumption would be a good one also.

I was able to snag a BNE-AVV for $29, actual fare was $49 but only paid $29 thanks to the $20 voucher from the catch the stars promotion that was run.

$29 for Brisbane to Melbourne is not bad and the best part is it'll probably cost more to get to/from the airport.

Did you add a bundle in conjunction with the double points offer?

The starter plus or flex bundles made the total fare $90 meaning an extra $41 spend. Given I was only paying $29 (with the voucher) I couldn't really justify the extra spend plus I don't get the satisfaction of having spent just $29 to get from Brisbane to Avalon.

Sadly the return flight the weekend (20/21 July) I want was $149 from AVV and regardless VA is cheaper from MEL at $145 for a light fare ($165 for a choice). I haven't booked the MEL-BNE yet and I'm on the lookout for something interesting like a wide body or unusual route.

The two best I've found so far either $196 for a Qantas A220 back on Sunday arvo (although I flew the A220 on its first day of commercial operations) or this crazy $539 link airways saab routing from Melbourne to Brisbane via Wollongong.

VA is cheaper from MEL at $145 for a light fare ($165 for a choice)

One of the flights is operated by a MAX 8.

Anyway double points with a JQ bundle is until June only.
