What cheeses me off

…many (not all) of the terms which have ‘man’ are derived from the latin manualis meaning of the hand, strength power etc.
🤦‍♀️
And it is that 'not many' that some assume can just count for all. And when I say some, it is usually a male point of view.

"When you are accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression."

Not quite sure what that means

I was just trying to clarify that man in a word is not always related to gender.

I unequivocally support equality

Without wanting to derail this into a highly charged, political discourse (I'm assuming there is an appropriate thread for that I'm not aware of), much of this talk just fuels the activist left, most, if not all, of whom are not in touch with reality. I'm all for equality of the genders, however in my chosen profession, only 25% of graduates are female and yet many companies have a target of 50% - most posters in this thread appear to be pretty switched on so I'm not going to explain the obvious quandry. Mrs_O and I agreed some years ago that she would stop working for the good of our, at that time, one child but now children. She thinks that almost all of this equality is just woke, leftist activism coming from unmarried, childless humans. By giving up work, for the good of our family, we have given up $18,200 of tax free income, whatever happened to the "married couples allowance"?

OK, so I clearly went off on a rather "Brownian Motion" series of thoughts there..... wibble!

WCMO -

USA visa application. Web site continuously buggy (loops & related). Every time I call and report, useless call centre somewhere says 'we will escalate, you'll get an e-mail ..'

After 3 weeks, e-mail says check under your profile for resolution.

Resolution is 'Fixed - continue your application'

Resume application - another bug. Call, rinse repeat.

Edit - Cheesy update. Got an e-mail after this mornings call and 'escalation'

Success! Quick resolution!

So I do that, and it says

So 'resolved' for the USA Visa system has a similar meaning to 'enhanced' with airlines.
Thanks for the reminder! Need to sort out my Canada ETA and USA ESTA for a trip in a few weeks. Feels pointless as I need to replace my (pretty darn new) passport a few weeks later due to a non-functioning chip in it which then means another ESTA for the next trip... but hey ho, you gotta do what you gotta do.

And.. you have to laugh, just as I go to do it:
The Government of Canada will perform updates to its online system from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm ET on February 26, 2024. The eTA application form will not be available at that time. We apologize for the inconvenience. To apply for an eTA, please return after 5:00 pm ET on February 26. i.e., it's just started 7 minutes ago 😅

Well, I tried it 5 minutes before the window and hit submit just as it was about to start. It said the payment didn't work ... but low and behold a few hours later I've now just received an approval e-mail (looks the same as my last one from 2017) and the payment shows as pending on my credit card, so must have gone through OK after all.

WCMO. EDR finally sending some products that I boosted. Then in the 3 visits to WW none of the 3 items were in stock. With the lack of offers I suspect this was deliberate. ;)

Similar with the other chain, the local Coles is like this almost every week. Unless you check the weekly catalogue in advance and turn up very early on the first day - empty shelves.

We drive 4km further down the road to another store with a competent manager that nearly always has stock.

Happens to me every week!

I have had several occasions where I go to WW and buy my usual products only to have them appear the next day as a 'booster' product. 🤬
Oh surely not - the supermarkets would never do that.

I just received an email from WW with this header:
"Jennifer, we can help you spend less this autumn."

They must really care about me....ha ha ha 🤣
At least it's so ridiculous it can't really CMO.

Spending less by not sending everything you ordered!

Today, woolies, I've cut back shopping there but frequent local traders and Foodland. Numbers of shoppers are down hugely at my local. But still buy the expensive cleaning stuff etc as it is cheaper there. Today I bought a few things, about 1/3 of my normal shop there. Got out my wallet to pay. Nup. Asked me if I'd scanned everything which I had. Had to get approval for it. They checked the photo. It thought my wallet was an item. Must go back to scan and go. For the statistics minded, youth employment at very high level so don't feel the need to line up for service.

On Monday there was a lady who approached me in Woolies asking if I had an everyday rewards account. I do and told her I rarely used it these days as it was an extra thing to do at the checkout and it wasn't worth it. A few aisles later she approached me again forgetting the first encounter. So few people in the store that day! 😂

not being familiar with the supermarket thing, I read this originally as that you had nicked the stuff 😳
Probably because I spent too much time in Tasmania. ;)

Actually our nearest Coles is far better than our nearest WW. Occasional empty shelves but usually for products that deliver irregularly such as our local Maleny Milk.

At my local fruit and veg they have frozen berries and no country of origin just an address in Lonsdale and for those of you who know Adelaide they certainly don't grow berries down there. It's very industrial.

I thought not having the country of origin of food was illegal. The girls had no effing idea
