Qf59 about to land in Nrt...what would hsppen to Qf60 the return flight?..the pax and crew would be at Hnd....not that close by....or had they bussed everyone to Nrt earlier?!
It's a 40-60 min transport time between airports.
They'd have to get bags back, anyone already in the airside at HND would need to reenter Japan, then work out buses to get to NRT, meanwhile crew hours are likely counting down.
Likely delay the flight overnight and see what happens with the airport reopening then fly the aircraft over from NRT.

Qantas lists QF60 as delayed, but that's still showing the known delay from QF59 departing SYD late.
 
Yep, still surprising given the nature of HND. I guess the proximity to Tokyo Bay makes sense.

Sky were saying the CG Dash 8 is not a regular operator at HND (google maps photo above only shows helos) and importantly was not ADS-B equipped.

They said they were carrying supplies so I assume they were at HND to onload cargo

You can't even make out the dash 8 from the T1 video point.
Looked like a normal landing until the C5 intersection.
 
Some from China have gone to KIX.
JL88/NH924 from CAN and NH962 from PEK diverted to KIX.
JL22 from PEK returned to PEK while near the Chinese coastline.
MU575 from PVG was still on the ground taxiing and returned to the gate and then cancelled.
Interestingly CZ3085 from CAN was near Kyushu in Japan airspace and turned around to divert to PVG. Guessing it didn’t have enough fuel to go back to CAN but wanted to land in a Chinese airport with CZ ground agents to make operations easier.

Not sure if that's correct. I pass the Coast Guard hanger on the regular and have done for the last 3-4 years and the Dash is always sitting in there, so I assume it's based at HND.

Did the CG dash 8 not wait for instructions, to proceed onto the runway for take off, or did they proceed against tower authority.
Did the tower make a very bad error.
Lots of things to digest.
Thought that there were very strict procedures at airports, those 2 blinking orange lights, etc...
Someone on the dash 8 must have misheard the "right to proceed".

From the information currently available, the dash 8 was meant to be at the blue mark. Instead they were near the red mark.
It can be amazingly difficult to navigate your way around an airport. Sitting at ground level, it can be a sea of lights, so I have no problem understanding how an aircraft could take the wrong turn, or miss a stop.
