Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Ok, nothing new here: a very delicious parmy for me and a supposedly delicious ravioli for my traveling partner.
Our attendant was Guy. The most outstanding attendant I have ever had across many business class flights.
He had an obsession with monitoring and meeting our every need. Truly appreciated.

Two different salads offered. This was the “Middle Eastern” one:

The usual Thai chicken curry or mac & cheese (this time described as a “ragu”).

MEL-CNS return.
Mac n cheese was also described as ragu with it on top.
I enjoyed the green curry.
Dinner chocolate mouse dessert, very nice.

Took the Mushroom and sun dried tomato bruschetta for a run, fellow traveller had the spinach pie. Both were tasty as. Noticed the staff all referred to me by first name (am WP), was in the new J config too. Great flight.IMG_3313.jpegIMG_3312.jpeg

VA943, SYD-BNE dep 1:10 pm. PDB sparking, juice or water. I forget what the meal options were but I had open Reuben sandwich, which was very nice - zingy sauerkraut on top made it.

I love the sauerkraut, maybe with tomorrow's breaky, but not a little plain looking?
Guess all about the taste.

They should get V shaped chocolate instead of heart shapes, just a silly thought. And hand them out fast to J pax on boarding.

The reuben is delicious!!! The sauerkraut offsets the four or five slices of equally delicious but quite salty prosciutto.

VA 702 BNE-HBA. Same FA Jess who was on my last flight 4 days ago also on this one and greeted me by first name before I showed my BP; pretty impressive (we chatted during that flight re wifi etc).

PDB of water or juice. I had mushroom gnocchi which was OK; very filling.

VA702 is a morning departure, so it wouldn’t have been available as a PDB.
IMO much easier if the three choices were the same on all flights, regardless of departure time; water, juice or sparkling wine. (Rather than swapping out the juice for wine at some point, and keeping to just two choices of PDB per flight, although more working filling up a tray and more wastage I guess.)

IME there is a WIDE variation of how CMs implement PDB, particularly if they are flying a 4 sector day, and their shift spans morning and afternoon flights... (they are human, and remembering what PDB to serve is clearly last thing on their minds while preparing for departure, but thankfully, nearly always something is offered - sometimes on a tray, sometimes by hand. BUT, having said that, there is excellent consistency in remembering to offer those who board last a PDB, even if they have already cleared away the first lot of empty glasses from the earlier boarders.)
