Miss B is doing an exchange semester at University California, and her Aust Uni provides full insurance for the 3 month duration of the semester. But for the week she's there before, and a few weeks after, not covered.
Just concerned about getting Medical cover for before and after.
Anyone had experience in getting cover of just a portion of an overseas trip? (I'm not concerned about airfares/baggage etc, just US medical!)

I would find out if the underwriter of the uni insurance is prepared to lengthen the period of cover at both ends for additional premium paid by you/Miss B. It must happen fairly often that students want to arrive early and/or stay longer than their exchange period. I doubt Miss B would be the first one ever to ask for longer cover.
