I will grant you though that there is a fine line between enforcing your rights and being a royal pain in the cough. Again I think context is key. If you are the type of person that takes every misstep to abuse the airline, then yeah you are right. But I think in terms of things like lost luggage it's not unreasonable to assume that in certain circumstances such a low limit of $100/day isn't warranted. I mean think about what you pack in your checked bags, namely: clothing and toiletries. I don't know about you but if I'm missing my toiletries (i.e. razor, sunblock, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, shaving cream, after shave, deodorant, etc.) I can see spending $30 or $40 there easily. Now you look at a day of clothing, well a shirt, jeans, socks and underwear can easily add up to $100 in a day for clothing. So yeah you can totally spend more than $100 a day when they lose your luggage. But I think if you were to send in itemized receipts to Qantas, they wouldn't argue with a few bucks here or there. Where they might raise an eyebrow is if you put a $600 iPad as a sundry expense!
