Gifts for cabin crew

Before is tacky. After is a tip.
I reckon the perfect timing would be in a circumstance where you knew the same crew were going to be working together in the immediate future … eg. I don’t know whether a QF flight arriving at Changi which is continuing to Europe will have the same crew continuing onwards, but if they were, then the perfect place to gifty the crew would be when you left that flight in Singapore.

Good idea...
I only know Qantas gives out Lindt chocolate to pax so it's better to buy different chocolate brand - such as FruChoco or Haigh's

Ferrero Rocher is also a good idea but we don't know who's allergic to nut.

I like to give the crew a thank you card. They really appreciate it!

If someone's allergic to nuts they won't have a choccy given to them by a customer, in any industry, unless the packaging explicitly says it caters for nut allergies ... most chocolate has traces of nuts. So if you're comfy with giving choccies as a gift, be just as comfy with giving Ferrero Rochers. :)

I think Haigh's is a nice idea, as they're fairly well known as being Australian & being nice, so you've got a good chance of making a reasonable proportion of crews happy. :)

I’m all set to say thanks on my two SIN legs on Friday.

Well these were a MASSIVE hit. I just love it when gifts I give (especially when I've made them) make someone's day. It's the only reason I did it. The SIN crews are just so lovely and this is a really great way to brighten their day. They all talked about it all flight.

This is what I love most and it's why I do it - it's a conversation starter. And they all like to come and have a chat with me which makes my day in return. One was getting married and took his home to his fiancée. Another told me it was her first flight back after 18 months of maternity leave and that she hadn't been looking forward to it but that I had changed her outlook and she was excited to be back.

The first leg crew manger offered me a choice of champagnes from First Class (I was in J) . When one of the crew offered me another drink later I said no thanks, he replied "but there's the rest of the bottle of Krug waiting for you" 😵😍. Totally unexpected!

The second leg crew manager came up with all the J crew and asked if they could take a photo with me because I was their favourite customer and they wanted to post it to their internal social page. I think everyone else on board thought I must be someone famous haha.

I will always do something like this when I fly SIN - I just love seeing their faces light up.

Both my sleeves of FR's were a hit going to/from Hamilton Island on VA. Both CM's said the same thing "are you sure"?

The best response was from our whY FA who came back from the galley to do the final clean up and thanked us as she and the CM had theirs with a cuppa, as they were on their last leg of the day.

Some airlines don't allow crew to take things off the aircraft, including from passengers, so chocolates can be consumed during the flight.

So it's a bribe?
Slightly OT…I always feel conflicted about when/how/to whom and why cash tips are given. Needing to pay up front for good service feels like a bribe; an expectation of leaving cash for cleaning staff etc feels to as though we are reinforcing inadequate remuneration of hardworking people for a living wage.
I have never given cabin crew a gift although always spend time thanking them personally and expressing my appreciation of SQ and hard work they do/why I fly w them. If they are up for a chat thats great.

Edit: I support all forms of respectful appreciation and above not meant to be a judgement of giving gifts etc (lest it come across that way).
