yes, I received FB points for buying my last round of giftcards, I was under the impression that buying giftcards doesn't give you FB's.
Do remember reading on AFF that that's changed recently. Or I was always under wrong impression.

Family with 4 of us in total, the young kids have 1 each.

If you are just collecting FlyBuys you can set up accounts for pets etc

If you are converting to Velocity points I'd be using real people in case you ever get audited

Then I'm not sure. Coles had managed to implement a system where the MCs couldn't be used to buy more MCs directly but I don't know if that extends to other GCs. I'll be trying that out later this week and will report back but perhaps someone might beat me to it.

At Coles I was able to get a $30 Ultimate for Students using one of my Mastercards from the other week.
At Officeworks immediately I was able to use the Ultimate GC for a $30 Apple Card

Will report back if I get Flybuys for the officeworks transaction

What did you select at officeworks? 'Credit' or 'debit'?

Nothing, I just swiped the card and it completed the transaction - may have gone through automatically due to low value
On the card it says to select credit
