Jetstar launches domestic service

Aren't they using Airbus planes? Wonder if we will see headlines like.
'Qantas offshoot Jetstar completes first New Zealand domestic flight
using an Airbus and it didn't crash'

Hard to see them making solid inroads in NZ domestic. They'll be chasing AIR NZ 737's on the main routes in NZ. Also, will that mean Qantas NZ will pull out of the Auckland Wellington Christchurch runs? Most smaller NZ domestic legs are too small for Airbus or 737 use anyway.

Qantas 737's that were flying domestic NZ are now flying Australia to New Zealand.

The prevailing wisdom at the moment seems to be that Qantas (Jetstar) will do fairly well and that Pac Blue will be the losers but we will have to wait and see how things are going 6 months down the track before making a judgement on it IMHO.

I agree, I think Jetstar will go well in New Zealand.

JQ may go well on the three major hubs, but the A320 'tis a tad large for the larger Regionals. Pacific Blue recently demonstrated an Embraer E-190 at Hamilton, during a tour of provincial Air Ports, perhaps the smaller E Jets will will keep Pacific Blue in the blue, as fasr as N.Z. is concerned.
Cheers Dee
