Australian airlines and airports have attracted alot of criticism since the start of Covid for long queues and delays, cancelled flights etc.. We are not alone as this recent article indicates. Schiphol, Europe's third busiest airport, once held high for efficiency is now ranked 4th worst airport for delays and worst globally for cancellations.
Caveat on veracity of reporting of this 2nd tier publication site. - Leave those bags; Schiphol cancels more flights due to security shortage
