Have made 2 bookings online as follows (all business):

Booking 1: MEL-DFW (Qantas) then DFW-LHR-DUB (BA)
Booking 2: DUB-HEL (Finnair) then HEL-HND (JAL) HND-MEL (Qantas)

Total points were 402,100. Can I call the call centre and connect the 2 bookings as one oneworld Classic Flight Reward bringing the points down to 318,000? Pretty sure the booking above meets the requirements?

No, but even if you could, it’s a helluva risk. You could end up with both bookings cancelled based on the call centre experiences posted on other threads.

Thinking further about this - I actually think your current 2 itineraries are much "safer" than a single OWA anyway.

As we've seen in other threads, long complex OWA itineraries are at particular risk of disruption or cancellation, because if just one of the flights gets cancelled or moved, the whole thing can fall in a heap.

Looking at your second itinerary, that's the risky one, because it contains both Finnair and Japan, both factors are high disruption risk.

At least this way, the first half of your trip is insulated against any disruptions from the finnair/japan section. Stick with what you have. Bird in the hand.
