Flybuys Targeted Bonus Promotions

They're possibly thinking back to you buying some gift cards, or other discounted items on sale this time last year or the year before 😅
It seems odd that they are actively dissuading me from shopping at Coles (I haven't shopped at Coles for a couple of months at least).

That's OK, it just means they won't get any of my family's business (not that they care), and I'll continue to pick up a few crumbs with EDR, such as 5,000 points for $50 spend at Petculture.

If purchasing gift cards on a regular (opportune) basis then perhaps open a separate account under another member of household, to just use for the GC purchases

This makes no difference in my experience. I have bought tens of thousands of dollars worth of coles gift Mastercards each time the 10% off promo is on, scanned my card almost every transaction and have seen little to no change to my flybuys offers.

This appears to be the trend of late but I'm sceptical whether historical gc purchases may still have an impact.

I can’t speak for what happened in 2020 and earlier but my experience buying these each time since I first saw it come up in Feb 2021 is that it made no difference. I continued to get similar offers. This was putting through approx $25k the first time it was on and ramping up each time to just under $45k for the promo just gone.

You could but would likely be no better value than cashing the Flybuys out at Coles.
Best value IMO is to convert to VA and buy awards from there
True but only if you place value on premium awards. I can't accumulate quickly enough so the value for me is not premium awards but paying for groceries or paying for economy flights.

Fair enough. Just did a dummy run BNE-SIN-BKK return and you seem to get a bit of a discount 70K+$227 for VA Y award on SQ vs $1205 for SQ Y revenue
Assuming there is availability, you have a bit of flexibility on an award but dont earn any points of course
Edit: also suppose that is the floor price for an award but could probably find cheaper revenue

Thanks for checking @andye.

Just checked Flybuys and BNE-BKK return in March/April next year is $919.70 which I assume books into V class or 184,000 Flybuys. I don't quite have enough so I think it'd be possible to use Flybuys + cash.

I'll book wife and daughter via SQ website but may have to pay for seat selection if not free.

10k points for $50 shops for four weeks offered like mentioned above for six accounts.

A few of them have an immediate 1200 points for $30 stack.

My spend threshold had reached $250 (per week for 4 weeks) after the previous Coles/MC gift card promo. I scanned the FB card a few times when buying them this (most recent) time and I'm back on $50/wk x 4 too.

So after very little spend with Coles I was still getting offers to spend $90 for 2000 points then I got $50 per week for 4 weeks for I think 4000 today I got spend $30 and get 1200 points so happy to do that

Buy a 32 pack of Kleenex complete toilet tissue = 800pts + a bonus magical builder character

EDIT: unclear whether the bonus magical builder character requires a total spend of >$30 as well.

I wish there was an option of magic builder character OR some extra bonus points.

I've received offer of spend $80+ for 2000 points in first week of spend $50 x 4 weeks for 10000 points.
