exactly, QF specialise in using the covid excuse, seems VA now using the inconvenient excuse.

Obviously something else is the hold up, ah well.
I was listening to the radio this morning, they made the point that Covid cases in Australia are out of control, and our deaths from covid are at about 10% of the world wide deaths.
Not really an excuse at all.
Just to double check the numbers:

edit: and it doesn't even have to be covid cases in Australia. It could just be a few select key persons in Virgin. Hell, I'm in the office this week scrambling to do admin stuff because the admin person has to isolate with Covid.

All those high cases rates in the US, and UK that we saw last year. Australia is doing that now because we've remove all controls.

Covid is finished, over with, done, Kaput.

run the ann in a media PR room, hiding behind covid is No excuse for putting off the Ann, other factors are not being stated, maybe confidentiality, but whatever it is, it ain't covid.

The important line in that chart is "Limited testing and challenges in the attribution of cause of death means the cases and deaths counts may not be accurate." - according to the coronacast podcast we seem a lot higher because we are still reporting and testing. Many other countries aren't as diligent, or aren't as concerned.

Sadly your opinion about covid doesn't match reality.

Australia is being smashed right now. Staffing shortages are everywhere

Current Covid-19 deaths in Australia are the equivalent of A B737 crash between MEL/SYD every 4 days with no survivors.

A number of OECD countries count a death within 30 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as a 'Covid caused death'. Australia doesn't.

Nothing to see here.

Haha, JL has been running cargo flights for a while.

Except that Taiwan which has a population about a million less than Australia currently has a higher actual number of new cases at the present. A National mask mandate has been in place there since January.

I wonder if Virgin was about to launch a ultra low cost carrier to kill off Bonza (and RexJet also). They still have the Tiger AOC and could start whenever.

Bonza put out a presser at 12am saying delayed operation. Interesting.

Virgin delaying its project now?

Or VA acquiring Bonza? That could easily hit a major glitch that would need some cover to put off. But I doubt it could be kept quiet for long.

Acquiring an airline that doesn’t exist? Maybe John Borghetti has reanimated and is Jayne’s new secretary feeding her and Bain great ideas 😂

True, but they've done a fair bit of work and I think got their fee discounts from a number of airports (ie the ones they have announced). I don't know about the Tiger residue, but if Virgin was after a (U)LCC then maybe Bonza wouldn't be bad?

I don't think Bonza has tied up many Capital City airports (could be wrong), or capital city pairs, so that way, it wouldn't cannibalise much of VA2 'mainline' traffic???

There's literally nothing to buy.
I'm not going to make a big thing about the Banzai idea, but I think they do have agreements with airports for cheaper access and there a fair bit of IP I guess. But if there's isn't much there, it won't cost much to take out a possible competitor on the lower end of the market 🤣
