Flight Credit Woes

I have a qantas flight credit, which I can't ever use.
Am I right that they won't let name changes?
I was flying with my sister, and now she is married we just aren't going to take a trip together.
They say in the terms that the credit isn't just a money amount but it has to have the same people fly using it.
To me this seems absurd.
They cancelled the flights and Victoria closed their borders - it was at the height of the pandemic.

Are they allowed to do this? It's almost $400 and I could use the money if I can go with my husband and kids.

If there were multiple passengers on the original booking and you will no longer be travelling together, you can contact Qantas and they can split the credit up. Passenger names will remain the same, you'll just have seperate credits now so you can do your own travel.

It’s more that I paid and want the money back Or to be able to use the credit for my husband

Wish I flew Rex both ways they gave me a full refund of the return leg
But Qantas are terrible
They will get this money and no flights will ever be taken with them

I am sure they did, possibly not
I’m sure they will find a way out of it, borders were closed so how can I fly from NSW to VIC?

I agree. If Qantas cancelled the flights (not you) then you will be able to get a refund and not a credit or voucher.

They said at the time the flight was going ahead even though the border closed

It was a nightmare and I think they did it to get out of paying refunds

This is plausible, there were still a few flights going for essential travellers, those with exemptions despite the border closures.

Yes no doubt but for us plebs it meant we are now stuck with their useless credits.
At least virgin give just a money amount and don’t assign it to people.
So frustrating and I’ll never give Qantas any money again I’ll only fly on points with them.
