Just a quick question is it possible to transfer int to int in SYD and MEL, as I live in AU and have only ever transferred dom-int or int-dom and never paid attention or looked for transfer signage in these airports. I would have thought 'yes' and the process would not be much different to other airports e.g. de plane, follow the signs to a transfer area, go through security and get back into the terminal. I am booking a trip which will start in AKL and do a same day transfer in either SYD or MEL to HND. As travel will be QF-QF or QF-JL on the same PNR am I correct in assuming Mrs&MissM luggage will be checked through or will there be a need to collect and re-drop.

I've done this several times at both airports, pre-Covid, so it may have changed.

It's pretty much as you imagine, just follow the signs, but I do recall it being a little more difficult to find at MEL. Had to press a buzzer on a door at MEL and wait for someone to answer, but SYD was fine.

Never had luggage (just HBO) , so don't know about that.

@clifford thanks for the information I currently have 2 separate bookings MEL-HND with JL a day apart with my booking being the day before Mrs&MissM. We have no issues travelling on seperate flights however I am often reminded I need to provide the instructions, this is where/ when I have anxiety attacks and get confused ;) After 25+ years of marriage MrsM has never come around or got with the HLO program and I fear she is taking MissM on the same journey :p I may have to man up and argue the toss with them, alternatively QF may approve the SYD transfer and I will be off the hook for another year ;)o_O:D

I’m straying into dangerous territory here @Matt_01 but there is a mantra in the Halliday household which you are welcome to adopt:

HLO or you don’t go.

Has a nice rhythm to it when said out loud.
