Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

OK, it's not really about Green Tier, but chasing Green made me load the Wellness app, and the Wellness app notified me of this deal...

... if you have never had a hearing test with Audika, there is a promotion right now to get 3,000 QF points with your first test. Just did this, takes 10 minutes at their clinic at an appointment that was arranged within a day. Replaces (almost) all of the points I had to donate to Ozharvest.

Just tried to book a flight by redeeming a gift voucher, but there doesn't seem to be a way of adding the carbon offset to get my final green tick when making a booking through the qantas.com/giftvoucher system. Have gone all the way through to the payment details screen, but couldn't find the option to pay a bit more to fly carbon neutral. Any suggestions?

Annoyingly I've noticed flights to / from some airports don't provide the option to fly carbon neutral on the payment screen like most others do (i.e. BXG - Bendigo). Has anyone else noticed this?

This makes sense to me. The Gift Card / Flight Credit system is only very basic and doesn't even support things like multi-city bookings, extra baggage, seats etc.

I'll need to see how many extra are offered, evidence of them counting to lifetime status and whether it's worth it.

On principle I currently don't do any of the carbon offset stuff.

What principle, you don't believe in enviro change?

QF should just take 50 cents from every passenger and be done with it.

There's a difference between believing the climate is changing and believing paying $1 to carbon offset a flight when most people won't is magically going to fix the climate.

Take that a few steps up and that sounds like the Australia is so small we won't make a difference to world climate change so why do anything.

Sure, your or my 1 dollar doesn't make a difference on it's own but combined with 10m other passengers it might. It's like a fundraiser for one of those car adventures everyone seems to go on these days, $5k isn't going to cure cancer but 200 x $5k is sure going to help with costs for another year.

The option to select the reward has shown up for me. See if it works for you guys as well. Status credits show up pretty much instantly and it counts towards lifetime.
Just shown up for me too! Silver linings after yesterday's IT outage.

Shows up for me too. I have selected the 10,000 points and they were credited instantly.

For those with the option available, is that via the mobile app, or a web app? Which mobile OS or browser are you using?
Nothing for me (chrome / firefox, and android)

For those with options available, how many days after reaching Green Tier? Thanks
Green tier appeared a couple of days after my transactions. The options to choose took a further 9 days. But I think the delay was them fixing their system, not a deliberate intention that I should wait so long.

Ten days after purchasing qualifying flight with carbon credit (5th 🍀), though as mentioned above, this may have had to do more with IT issues being resolved...

On the android app something appeared about claiming the reward, but when I clicked it just went to a generic page about the green tier and the was nothing to select.

I had an old iPhone, so I gave it a go on that, and it brought up the options and I was able to select the 50 status credits.

Booked a reward flight before 30 April, paid all surcharges and the carbon offset with points (107 to be exact). Appeared as a separate transaction. Will report back if/when it shows up as a green tick.

Tick from an award-points-funded carbon offset appeared today, along with this popup when I logged into QFF:

It was confusing to say the least, but it looks like you earn points on the carbon offset itself.

Three ticks down, two to go, renewal not until end September so will wait until then to see my SC balance and whether to redeem this membership year or next.

Booked a flight to AKL in J next year and paid the $6 to make it be carbon neutral (and earn the tick for QFF Green tier) on Friday. Haven't seen the tick appear yet but would be curious if it would show up this program year (when I made the booking and purchased the carbon) or next program year (when I take the flight)?
