Hi all,

Booked a Classic Rewards Flight PER -DXB on EK421 earlier this month. However, if I look to book it as a cash fare this Emirates flight is displayed as QF8421. I can't remember ever seeing this issue before - where something booked with points is not a codeshare but if booked with cash it is? Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks. The main reason I'm asking is because it isn't a codeshare I cannot attach a lounge invitation!

Award seats on partners are almost always ticketed as the operating carrier. Qantas has to pay EK for the seat

If you book revenue flights on EK metal via the Qantas website they will usually be marketed as a QF number and QF will get a cut of the fare that they wouldn't if you booked via Emirates.

My understanding is that you can only book revenue flights on EK metal via the QF site if they do operate a codeshare (eg you can't book SIN-DXB)

When airlines operate a joint venture (as opposed to a partnership), they all get a cut of the joint profit

Thanks for clarifying this. So it looks like using Qantas lounge passes on Classic Rewards flights booked on another airline are a no go then! Oh well, I'll get to see what lounge doors Loungekey will unlock instead! :)

... and you also miss earning the Status credits from being in points club it seems 😡
well yes, but since QF isn't getting the revenue (from the value of the points spend) this kind of makes sense to me as to why they wouldn't give any earn under PC since that's ALL about QF spend....
