double-decker arm rest to end squabbles

Some people have 'big' arms, that would struggle to fit in between them I think, and I wouldn't like the angle you'd have to rest your arm for it to actually work.

For me, it's a NO!

While it may not be ideal, it got to be better than a single narrow shared arm rest. The best solution from a passenger's perspective is a wide enough arm rest for both to use comfortably. But of course that is not practical for most 3-abreast seating configs in an economy cabin as it would mean the actual seat width would be way too narrow.

Its a YES from me, as NM said, it may not be ideal, but its a hell of a lot better than the current offering.

Yeah, no issues with that - I've thought about something similar myself! But I wonder if "power-users" will want to claim superiority ;)

Interesting, but there would be more imporant things I would fix/improve first for sure...:)

Looks very good, and I can see it fitting in nicely with most new modern interiors. Passengers no longer need an ash tray and I guess TV controls could be located on the TV in front of you, but how strong would the armrest have to be, would it live up to the amount of use an armrest gets these days from passengers.

What about a privacy barrier/screen coming up the middle - like A380 business class seats have.

Would probably be disputation about who gets what level. Need to adopt a convention such as "left down, right up" before the new armrests are installed.

Wonder if people would feel funny with their arms at different levels :?:

If the barrier came out of the centre of the armrest then you'd have less space on each side of it, or you'd have to have two armrests, which you can't do now as there's just not enough room.

Will this in any way reduce shoulder and/or hip room?

I hardly ever use the centre armrest if someone is sitting next to me anyway. I can do without it and as they are stuck in a middle seat I feel they deserve tp use it more than me....

Two is better than One anyday IMO. If the person next to you still insists on hogging both arms, you could easily lift the arms on your side up and bingo!

If I am in the aisle or window and there is someone in the centre seat in Y, I just let them have the armrest.

They are stuck in the middle, they can at least have the armrest IMO.

If that's the case I'd happily sit in the middle every time, then as you would get both armrests. To only have 1 I find not useful at all, and simply don't use them as leaning to the 1 side hurts my back.

No, I don't think it'll affect either. From the photo it looks to be the same size (width) as previous armrests.

I still think there's too much of a chance of the top half of your arm making contact with the other person...... still a No:!: from me.

After installation it should only take about 30 days before they start charging extra for it....

Classic Armrest: normal charge
Double Decker armrest: $14.95 extra:(
