Qantas to launch in-depth partnership with Accor ALL

is the QFF conversion better value than ALL points?

2000 ALL points = 40 EUR / 62.37 AUD off a cash stay - meaning an opportunity cost of 3.12c per QFF point if you were to convert.

Personally I keep mine and use them towards Accor stays which I would pay cash for anyway, but it is possible to extract more than 3.12c value per QFF point on a flight redemption/upgrade.

I’ve been steadily accumulating ALL points and pondering what to do with them.

If you use them to pay for room nights, do you get points and status night for the booking?

As someone mentioned earlier, it works a bit like QF ASA. Partial points payment should still count as a stay/nights but I have a vague memory that you may not earn points.

If you book a refundable rate, you are supposed to be able to cancel and get points recredited.

I’m going to transfer a stack over to Velocity as it’s 1:1 transfer rate.
100k is worth about $3100 off room nights at Accor or if I transfer that (or more) over to Velocity there should be some decent redemptions out there. Air Canada for instance is 104k in J each way and is selling for around $8k return

I would value that Air Canada product as more like 3-4K like your Accor valuation!

That's been the case for me. Part points payment just reduces the $$$ and therewith the reward and status points for the amount paid but still counts as a status night.

Made a refundable part points booking couple of days ago and saw a message saying that if I cancel in time, points are recredited.

In case helpful, just received this from Flying Blue. Tried the Accor end as a Accor Plus Diamond and no result still - same direction to a button that doesn’t exist.
Thank you for your e-mail of 17 November 2021 regarding your request to unsubscribe from the “Miles + Points” partnership.I'm sorry to see you go. I confirm that I have officially submitted your request and your subscription has been ended from our end. This unsubscription will be effective within a few days.
I should remind you that you will no longer benefit from double accrual for all your Flying Blue and ALL - Accor Live Limitless activities.

We just stayed the weekend at MGallery hotel in Mitchelton. They had my partner’s Accor membership on the booking and she’d linked her QFF membership to her Accor membership. At check out, however, the staff member said that participating in the Qantas tie-up was at the discretion of the individual hotel - and that this hotel, while an Accor hotel, had opted not to award Qantas points under the arrangement. Seems dubious to me. Anyone else aware of this limitation?

Wow if thats true.
I linked up on the day it was announced, and stayed at a property on Friday night. The accor points have hit my account, so i'll wait to see if anything hits my QFF account. It was a Pullman.
Im also staying this week at a Peppers property, so fingers crossed for that.

I stayed at an Ibis on Thursday after linking, haven't received either ALL or Qantas points yet but will report back.

Did you raise it, or did the property see the ALL profile was linked on their terminal and state they don't participate?

Has the “MILES+POINTS” logo gone from the “Rewards” panel on your account page?

The staff member at reception at the place we stayed went into the back and checked with the manager before coming back with the response that that hotel’s owners had chosen not to participate in the Accor/Qantas arrangement. Either she got bad information or there’s a big asterisk on it that ought to be disclosed.

The should be a list of “Participating Hotels” hotels somewhere. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a link from the program Ts&Cs.

TBH, I would have thought it’s an Accor thing. If the stay posts in the normal way, you ought to get the QFF points (unless the place isn’t a “Participating Hotels” in Accor ALL)….

There is a list of hotels not participating. There's only one AU property on the list.

MGallery is not on the exclusion list.

If your points don't appear in the time frame outlined in the terms, I think you'd have reasonable grounds to request manual credit.

Yep, that was my expectation too - so I was very surprised by the response. She said the Accor ALL number had been registered but that there wouldn’t be QFF points. We’ll see what shows up; it’s possible (and I’m hoping) she just got it wrong.

I recall many years ago when Accor introduced (I think) the Accor Plus programme after its predecessor they made fine announcements. We stayed at a property in downtown Auckland on the expectation we would get something (can't remember what it was) and didn't.

When I queried this I got a response along the lines of "the real story is xx_, too bad so sad." and was so incensed I avoided Accor properties for some years afterward.

Cheers skip

Just had a penny drop moment. Once upon a time, many hotels were direct QFF partners. Flash your QF card at check-in and points would follow. Perhaps they were thinking those old legacy arrangements? They could be completely unaware of the new partnership….?

Yes, it’s entirely possible they had no idea what arrangement we were talking about. We were pretty clear about having linked the Accor ALL membership so as to get QFF points under the new arrangement - and the staff member went and checked with a manager - so I assumed that one of them knew about it. But it’s indeed possible they didn’t. We’ll wait and see if the points arrive.

Do we have a sense of likely timeframe for QFF points to land after completion of the stay? My guess would be that we should know within the week.

Partial points counts as a night, but not as status points if you're looking to earn status using the $$ method (or if going for Diamond). Also doesn't earn reward points or count to any promo's. EG right now ALL have a double your nights promo where reward redemptions will only credit the base nights.
