Australian state border restrictions

Also on iPhone, as far as I can tell, it won't show the date of the message if it was in the past week, only the day of the week.

Might be a setting you can tweak for this. My iPhone 12 Pro shows day of week, date and time for past messages going back years.

but what about current week?

I googled and didn't find anything. Yes, more than a week you get the full date & time, last 7 days, just the day of the week and time

Edit - simple hack. Just change the date of your phone to more than a week into the future, problem solved.

"When I travelled over to Tokyo, I had to undertake these tests too," Ms Palaszczuk said, but admitted she did not pay for the tests because they were work related.

I don’t mean to be rude, but these constant references to her trip to Tokyo sort of lead me to think AP has never travelled before? Sort of like “this is me, in Bali”

Does anyone know a centralised website that shows the COVID conditions required for travelling interstate for all states? I know I can look up individual government website but given each state has different rules I was hoping that there is a 1 stop shop for every Australian domestic traveller ....

Another info source : healthdirect has a state-by-state domestic travel restriction checker

All this testing garbage will last weeks, if that… it’s an absolute mess…
Slowly being walked back... the Hobart Mercury to report on Friday that the mandatory vax requirement to enter Tasmania quarantine-free from Dec 15 will essentially operate on an honour system with only spot checks of arriving travellers’ vaccination status

Interesting this leaked. I wonder when the other 4 LGAs will be revealed!
No leak. Questions in Parliament and their answers are public. One of the bettef accountability mechanisms.

WTF? I had to undertake work related tests too, and paid for all of them!

cheers skip

Gee that'll rancour a few members in this place...

This whole we're tough on covid thing "works" until some governments actually have to do something.

From ABC:

Mr Marshall gives an update on travellers coming to SA from NSW and Victoria

"We are making sure that people who come into South Australia are double vaccinated and come from an LGA which has a vaccination rate above 80 per cent."
"And the good news is, all of Victoria is now above 80 per cent and all of New South Wales apart from one LGA is now also above that 80 per cent vaccination rate.

"Only the Byron Bay LGA remains below the 80 per cent, they are just a below 80 per cent, we hope they get to the 80 per cent.
"We also asking that people coming in from areas like New South Wales and Victoria and the ACT to have a test 72 hours before they come into South Australia.

"They don't need to get a result but they do need to have that test done. This is another layer of protection."

Its interesting because according to NSW the LGA with worst vaccination levels is Edward River at 65.8% (in the middle of nowhere) and Byron is at 78.7%.

Hopefully the adjusted denominators will flow through the Health.Gov.Au and NSW reporting today also.

Here are the new changes to South Australia's border rules

Travellers from central Sydney and Melbourne will be allowed into South Australia when borders open on Tuesday, but travellers from local government areas with vaccination rates lower than 90 per cent will be prevented from attending high-risk settings like aged care and major events, like the Adelaide Ashes test.

The SA Premier Steven Marshall says fully vaccinated travellers from every Victorian and New South Wales local government area will be permitted to travel, except for Byron Bay, which is yet to hit a vaccination rate of 80 per cent.

Those travelling from New South Wales, Victoria and the ACT will be required to have a COVID test in the 72 hours prior to arrival in SA, and must undergo a daily symptom check for 14 days via a phone app.

Those who travel from a local government area with a vaccination rate of less than 90 per cent will also have to undergo tests within 24 hours of arrival in SA, and again on days 6 and 13.

Surely the 90% rule should apply to LGA in all states, meaning pretty much every Queenslander and WA visitor.

3 tests posts arrival and a daily symptom check phone call seems like overkill, for a fully vaxed person who has already tested negative before departure just because their LGA might be at 89% fully vaxed. Continually moving goalposts are crazy.

Yes but still onerous pre-departure + 3 post arrival tests for anyone from an LGA with less than 90% fully vaxed plus daily health calls to check symptoms even though you are negative.

Notice you cant go to cricket (although why anyone would want to go is beyond me) if your LGA is under 90% fully vaxed. but they arent applying that one to SA residents.

Inconsistent and onerous as always.

But they are still a COVID ZERO state.

90%! I won’t go to SA till next year then. My LGA won’t get to 90% fully vaccinated till after I depart to go overseas.

I don’t need a pre departure COVID test to go to the UK and only a day 2 lateral flow test on arrival but SA will require a test before departure and as many as 3 tests after arrival! This is beyond absurd.

That won’t apply to any Victorians. I suspect the other checks will be random esp as if coming by road the police are standing down their strict checks.

The concern with all these restrictions is that it's obvious that they are not letting go of the Covid zero mindset. Surely the point of everyone being vaccinated was that we could accept Covid circulating in the community?
Someone takes a test 72 hours before entering SA. They take another in the first 24 hours and another at day 5. What is going to happen if the test at day 13 returns a positive result? They have been circulating in the community for two weeks! Are they going to contact trace thirteen days worth of travelling around SA, visiting tourist destinations?

Oh I bet your sweet bippy that is exactly what they will do.

But where are you getting these restrictions from? Can't find anything in the announcement today.
