With having almost two years "off " from flying , between one thing and another our travelling shall be decreasing
So as I won't get to the LifeTime gold with Qantas , starting to look at other airlines.
Ummm mabbe I should have looked before ? Or it is just now with recovery the disparity is so high. Singapore and JAL seem to have excellent deals for September next year. Love the fact you can have two different classes of travel eg business over and PE coming back
Am I the only one ?I Think I have spoken of it before but with husband aging lol and two grandbabies , travelling isn't quite the goal anymore

Yeah... I gave up maintaining anything above silver about 10 years ago. Have saved tens of thousands of dollars by switching to other airlines as well as taking advantage of miles and points sales. Status makes sense if you are doing a lot of domestic flying in economy and use the lounges. I have entry-level status (silver) which provides the basics such as business check-in/free bag/priority phone service for any flight that might be in economy, and the rest I don't miss. Again for any flights in economy, pre-covid the mastercard 'flight delay' benefit provided free lounge access for any flight delayed over two hours. Wonder if that will come back?

Some examples of 'best fare' pre-covid were getting Singapore Airlines First class to europe for less than the price of Qantas business, JAL's premium economy to Europe (also available next year) for $2300-2700 that comes with lounge access as standard (and champagne on board!), or first class using purchased miles for $4400 return to Europe from Sydney (usually pretty wide open on Thai).

Wow those were some serious savings. I should have looked earlier however I was hoping to get to life time gold.
