I have recently booked a panoramic suite at the Pan Pacific Melbourne staying next week.

Hotel reception has since advised the Pacific Club is closed until next year and there is a temporary offering of breakfast at Dock 37 and canapés on the terrace.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced the ‘temporary’ offering??

Having club access was a big reason for booking… I am currently considering whether I should change to the Sofitel, the only reason I haven’t at this stage is the panoramic suite appears to be a much better room than the standard club rooms at the Sofitel.

Any experience on the temporary club benefits would be appreciated.

I had it when they had just reopened a couple of weeks ago so it was a bit empty.

The evening canapes were very generous, I was solo so maybe I got a 2 person serve ... I certainly don't look like I ever go hungry, and i couldn't finish it all. :DIt consisted of:
- bowl of soup
- fresh oysters
- grilled king prawns
- some little canape-ish style toasts with fish on it
- olives / dips / breads
- slice meats
- generous servings of cheeses
- more things I've forgotten

Drinks were topped up regularly - great service from the staff (although I was the only one in the bar).

Breakfast was a la carte in the cafe.

I also got a very nice welcome fruit platter, chocolates and red wine along with an upgrade as a GHA Discovery Black.

If you have the big suite, you probably won't miss having somewhere to work during the day with the club closed.

If you're comparing a club room at Sofitel to the suite here, I'd recommend the suite. While you will not get the true club experience, the canapes are great and the suite is great.

Thanks -That’s a really helpful overview! Will definitely stick with the Pan Pacific suite.
