One keen traveller clearly driven stir crazy by the pandemic booked a staggering amount of flights in just 24 hours, Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce has revealed.

Doesn't seem that unreasonable. Some people normally commute weekly to work and might book a few months' worth of flights at a time (especially if there is a sale or DSC offer). For example, someone who lives in Port Macquarie and works in Canberra might book 9.5 weeks' worth of PQQ-SYD-CBR-SYD-PQQ trips and you've got to 38 flights.

A few years ago, during a DSC promo, I booked 38 trips over a weekend, comprising 100+ flights.

Mostly on behalf of FIFO colleagues, though I did squeeze in a few for myself.

If the numbers quoted in the article are correct - 15 thousand seats booked for half a billion points, that works out to 33,000 points per seat. Time for someone at QFFF to revisit their default to 'points plus pay' display... dun seem to be working too well! (those 15K seats should have netted 10x that amount!! )

Time for someone at QFFF to revisit their default to 'points plus pay' display... dun seem to be working too well! (those 15K seats should have netted 10x that amount!! )

I am guessing that a lot of those bookings would have been domestic Ys for the family with the occasional single seat Transpac Y amongst a family of revenue pax. And 5,000 points used to offset $15 from the price of a revenue ticket. Most people never accumulate enough points to book a full points+pay seat.

Well we did our part in bringing up the average as we booked 3 F seats

I don't believe there are many employers out there encouraging travel just yet unless they work for themself. More likely to be an avid FFer I'd guess.

I'm a min once weekly flyer on the SYD-MEL route and have nothing in yet as QLD and WA are the only states with enough people back in offices to warrant travel.

When you're actually thinking of catching the train... for fun!

You look into your FlyBys account and are actually SHOCKED by the number of FlyBys Points you have in it (because you haven't transferred anything for 2 years!)

I cannot remember my new Passport number now, but in all fairness the old one was just freakishly easy to remember and roll of the tongue.

However for a good year I forgot where my passport was! It turned out I actually put it in my partners official documents folder instead of mine when we moved - go figure why I did that LOL. But the interesting thing was, even though I couldn't' find it... I didn't even care enough to go look for it.

And now I am seriously contemplating using points on a Y flight (though to be fair it is a trans-Canada flight which are annoyingly expensive yet the points cost is fairly reasonable).
