Can't see much other than economy to LAX or SFO for August/Sept/Oct

I saw a couple of SFO-SYD in J, so I'm trying to decide whether I keep my flight via HKG or stay with friends in SF and come home via SFO. I loathe LAX so that s always best avoided for me.

I was hoping that they'd maybe finally launch the ORD-BNE but couldn't find any.

Nothing comes 'for free'... current OWA on JL, AA and CX for USA, Europe and back to Oz: AUD642 in taxes, fees and charges.

With new availability can change JL->QF for AU-USA, and CX->QF for Europe to Oz. Taxes fees and charges now AUD1897

See what the difference is in carrier imposed charges. Put me off changing!

Got to balance with not transiting another country which saves $ in covid tests. Of course if dont leave airport assume wont need another test.

I actually like QF metal (get status credits from point club too) , CX from Europe makes sense, from NY less sense.

I'm contemplating shortening my UK stay and lengthening the US and adding in Chicago after NY, so If ORD-BNE starts that may be better way home. Of course I've yet to see what other routing makes sense.

Unfortunately it got airtime in mainstream media - see all the comments on the FB groups, heaps of people have snapped up seats…
Yeah possibly, I searched around 9am. I also looked last week and there was literally nothing outside of economy for months on end.

This is from BNE to be clear.

Seeing Classic Flight Rewards Economy seats from SYD-SFO via BNE both ways around March. wonder if it will be worth it.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Also banking on another double status credit offer early next year, which based on 2019 and 2021 might happen. Add to that being a Points Club member, getting more value out of reward seats.

Alan Joyce said half a billion QFF points were redeemed last Tuesday (a single day!).

No wonder there is so little availability!

Hmmm... that's 'only' 500 million... I wonder how many people booked anytime awards instead of classic? Plenty of comments on other sites which were along the lines of 'yeah, Qantas has released all these seats but at 10x the price they were before'.

Every available seat on the first three return Qantas flights from Sydney to Singapore, Fiji, Bali and Delhi, will be available to book as Classic Flight Reward.
Seems to be loaded in the system already.

So this is their points plane it seems.

👍

Although sadly no premium seats available for any date late March to Bali on QF, at least for bronze/silver.

Can see good J avails, but I’ve already snapped up a LAX flight. Sister may book though. (WP view)

Doing a few spot checks I've found fairly regular SYD <> LAX reward seats across all 3 classes (not first for a380 flights) in march, april, may 2022. Also some spot availability SYD <> LHR aug 2022. Also plenty of SYD <> HKG for 2022 too.

I found better routing home via DFW, but stupid website wont let me make changes online, I am on hold hoping the last J seat on QF7 doesnt disappear whilst im on hold

CX must have released a stack of seats, because no matter where in the world i search, im always offered CX J even if it means flying halfway round the world and back again
