It is Wadi Rum and I was thinking of The Martian.

Looks redder than usual as pic taken at sunrise.
Wadi Rum also used in the Star Wars prequel Rogue One (planet Jedha not Tattooine so was still wrong)

I don't know whether they boo if cloud obscures the sunset. 🤔
