Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I have read it and it states removal of international arrival caps at 80%,

Does it?

The National Plan I posted states:

Measures may include:
Phase C:
Gradual reopening of inward and outward international travel with safe countries and proportionate quarantine and reduced requirements for fully vaccinated inbound travellers.
Phase D
Allow uncapped inbound arrivals for all vaccinated persons, without quarantine; and  Allow uncapped arrivals of non-vaccinated travellers subject to pre-flight and on arrival testing.

Dan's plan doesnt so isnt fully aligned with Scomo"s plwn, end of story.

Can you post that reference that you are referring to? I cannot find it.

For interstate travel the Vic Roadmap that I can see is in line with the National Plan:

For the final phase of the Roadmap, we will wait for more details to be developed as part of the National Plan as we move beyond 80 per cent double dose vaccination rates and we will update Victorians on that final phase in coming weeks.

The triggers are set by vaccination levels. What part of the Roadmap in any way would suggest that Vic is not getting vaccinated?

Vic is vaccinating slower, NSW wont be able travel internationally until Vic hits 80% bringing up the national average. I didnt say they werent vaccinating as your incorrectly assume.

Starts as soon as we have 80% of 16+ double vaxed. There is no justification for closed state borders at 80% in PMs plan, there is no "may" reference to state borders in Phase D, its a return to normal domestically.

Starts as soon as we have 80% double vaxed. The word "may" is not a feature of stage D as you are implying.

I’m sorry if you are looking for certainly in any aspect of anything in covid life you need to look elsewhere. Everyone is living on quicksand at the moment in all states.

All these weasel words guarantee is loss of travel spend in the states that wont commit to open domestic borders at 80%. For me 2020s domestic travel spend was less than 5% of 2019, and 2021 is looking like half of 2020. Its looking like i will get to USA before Victoria or Queensland.

Actually I can't seem to find the NSW Roadmap for Phase B, C and D. Can someone post it?

The only reference from a quick look that I can see is:
When NSW hits the 80% double dose target, the government intends to open up further freedoms around international travel, community sport, major events and other areas.

The roadmap is subject to further fine-tuning and health advice if circumstances change drastically or if cases within a designated area remain too high.

So that seems to be based on mays and not wills.

Victoria is the only state with a large enough population to bring down the national average to a point that will prevent international travel from NSW, he needs to get properly onboard.

I will ask again.

What in the Vic Roadmap announced today states, or even suggests, that he (I presume you mean the Vic Gov rather than just Dan Andrews) is not properly onboard, in that it would prevent international travel from NSW as per the National Plan?

What is "he" properly not onboard with?

I guess the interesting thing will be if vaccine approval for under 12’s is granted this year whether some states will then include that age group in the 80% too

I've just read the ABC.com.au version of Dans plan and I'm really impressed. Have I missed something? Making the State responsible for mandatory vaccination and not individual businesses is a significant move.

No you haven’t it was a solid presentation and plan. Just the usual anti VIC anti AZ anti GP ranting ;) It’s very much in line with the plan.

And he dropped big hints VIC will progressively make more mandatory vaccination announcements on sectors too.

[in reply to lovestravellingoz's reference to Phase D]

No, Phase C starts as soon as we have 80% of 16+ double vaxed. Your interpretation of the plan would mean that the description of Phase C is redundant as it also starts at 80%.

My impression is that only a 70% fully jabbed plan of relaxations has been released........I guess no point rushing - NSW is still probably 3 weeks away from reaching 80% fully jabbed. Got to give a reason for the NSW Premier to come to a press conference.

No way in hell I am vaccinating my 3 Year old. I am vaccinated and support all adults getting the jab. No very little ones though.

Yes Phase D comes after Phase C and not at the same time as C . The headings (as well as the listed measures) make that clear.

  • C. Vaccination Consolidation Phase
  • D. Final Post-Vaccination Phase
The National Plan has no definition as to when Phase D kicks off. It is also "post-vaccination".

You're right, it lacks a numerical criterion for moving from C to D. Is that weaselly?
Yes. The 12+ / 16+ is just another goal post that is already up on wheels ready to be shifted. Thankfully NSW seems to be holding their nerve.

ACT Presser today they said the percentage announcements would now be 12+ from the ACT. While they no doubt will still beat the drum that they are "sticking with the national plan" basically talking out of both sides of their mouth.

Question for National Plan: the various entry points for number of cases low / medium / high being 10s / 100s / 1000s etc. Over what area is that? surely classification of medium / high cannot be the same for ACT vs NSW so what is high in NSW? is it 1000 per LGA? or is it state and territory wide?

Phase D starting at 80% 12+ is news to me - this phase previously did not have its trigger point determined.

I’m surprised if it’s 80% 12+, as that will likely occur this year or very early next, and the national plan pretty much makes it open slather for international arrivals if you are double jabbed.

Or perhaps Victoria will pick and choose which parts of the national plan it will adopt? I can’t even see NSW calling for unrestricted arrivals (not even home quarantine) this side of Christmas.

Making the State responsible for mandatory vaccination and not individual businesses is a significant move.

You mean like NSW had already done for Health, Education, Emmergency Services? Not to mention certain construction workers? Good decieion but far from unique.
