As I have the Qantas App on my phone, I regularly receive alerts when check-in opens for a Qantas flight I'm booked on. But throughout the pandemic, I've also kept receiving check-in alerts for flights that are cancelled, or for bookings that I have myself already cancelled months ago.

E.g. just now, I've received an alert to check-in for my CBR-MEL-BWT trip. Except that I cancelled this trip weeks ago and Qantas isn't even flying to Burnie at the moment!

Are others also getting Qantas check-in alerts for cancelled flights? It's kind of depressing to be continuously reminded of planned trips that I'm no longer able to take because of covid!

Yep. Received check in reminders for a cancelled Cairns trip this week. Booking cancelled by me about three weeks ago I think. Thought at first that the cancellation was somehow reversed. Went into the app and trip was definitely gone.

Constantly (well, for the 1/2 doz flights that have been cancelled). I feel like telling the app to 🤬 when it does it….

Did you post that screenshot as proof or so we were jealous of you being in NZ? ;)

Yes, the notifications make me worried I haven't postponed or cancelled flights - they always seem to lag the changes I've made to the booking. I seem to get them for both outbound and return legs.

I don't know why you'd be jealous of someone in NZ right now. Although, hopefully Mattg your phone screen will be filled with Air NZ check-in reminders soon.

On topic, I've never noticed this to be the case on a few trans tasman QF services that have been canceled (using an android device). Although maybe that's just me being oblivious. It does make me wonder if the reminders are connected to some different database that probably needs updating?

And @Mattg is it 2degrees in NZ today? 🥶 I'm in my usual T-shirt and shorts...

For some reason I didn't receive any alerts for my cancelled booking MKY-ROK-BNE on 11 August.

Sorry, of course….my comment is a little too late!

I posted the screenshot as an example of the check-in alert I just received. I'm not sure why you'd be jealous of our level 4 lockdown. ;)

Not quite 2 degrees but it is cold and rainy.

Back on topic, I wonder if it's an iPhone vs Android thing?

Yes, get bording alerts for all my cancelled flights. You were going to fly to Burnie  ?

Where's the monument on the phone, Matt? Tamerlane's tomb in Samerkand seems close, but no cigar ...

Yes. Voluntarily, even.

Close - it's the Mausoleum of Khawaja Ahmed Yasawi in Kazakhstan.

It was featured in one of my trip reports: Christmas in Central Asia

@RooFlyer that‘s a great idea for a new thread. Name the building/monument/landscape etc.

Go for it!
