Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

The three who kept mentioning the limo driver in the NSW media briefings (hint: not Kerry Chant).

One of the independent media groups gave them that label a few weeks back due to their ability to talk for several minutes and not answer the question. Were asked 5 times to confirm what the limo driver had told the media - that he had been re-contacted after a gap of some days since the last of a series of contact tracing interviews.

He was extensively re-interviewed, as was his wife, by the NSW Dept of Health who advised him that the FedEx aircrew were not CV+ve & so the source of his infection was unknown.
NSW Health has identified the un-vaccinated limo driver as patient zero of the current outbreak.

Dr Chant has said repeatedly that just because a one off test of the crew was negative did not mean that they weren’t the source of infection.

However, NSW’s Chief Health Officier Dr Kerry Chant on Saturday said contact tracers continued to explore all hypotheses.

“We have no information before us that there was a case that predated this individual,” she said.

“Obviously we’re open to any hypothesis and if the individual wants to put forward who they got infected from, we’re happy to track it down, but at this point we don’t have any other leads”.

IIRC you brought this up in a previous post and had this pointed out to you.

You have a lot to add to the discussion but I find it hard to see past the anti-Govt rhetoric at times.
It is similar to the anti-QF stuff in its persistence.

We didn’t. They gave an interview or at least their boss did.
There was no breach of patient confidentiality.

Good we’ve learnt from the limo driver then. Hopefully these guys don’t have ACA shoving cameras in their kitchen window.

Still don’t know how they could give an interview when they’re sick with the virus though 🤷🏾‍♀️

Really? Cos the limo driver was interviewed by ACA over Zoom....not exactly a stretch of the imagination.

Glad to see the full force of the State Govt was thrown on to the job of eradicating the early spread of correct public information.

The overtime required for the State Govt IT area is only in the low $$ millions. The Premier & senior media advisors did not hesitate to make the hard decisions.
Absolutely. I am always delighted to see my taxes spent on keeping government secrets.

I more meant they’re supposed to be sick… how are they well enough to be giving interviews?
I know you only deal in COVID absolutes, but as you well know, not everyone gets sick. And no, that's not some sort of revelation.

We know how this works. The one person from SA who is positive will have travelled to Tasmania or maybe WA and boom. Lock down.

Update on the Vic Outbreak, information courtesy of dbRaeven.

I believe the graphic clearly shows how quick this strain is and also how only a few people need to be super spreaders to spread it so quickly.
By inference this shows why cases will be need to be shut down before re-opening as it can only take only "60s Man" (Case M4) to spark it all off again.

On the positive side there were no new clusters formed today. Though there is obviously the potential for there to be. ie The place that Mildura Man visited, the passengers on the many trains and trams used and the The Crafty Squire attendees.

So some information from the NHS in the UK with recent covid deaths.Quite a bit out there in 5G land that more people dying who are vaccinated so the vaccines are killing people.Spread by people that may have 2 neurones but unfortunately they have no synapse.

So from the BBC-
The latest Public Health England (PHE) figures show there were 92,029 confirmed Delta cases between 1 February and 22 June, most of which were identified in June.
Of these, 58% were in completely unvaccinated people and only 8% were fully vaccinated. For context, by the start of June more than half of adults in the UK were fully vaccinated. If the vaccine weren't helping, they would be expected to see more than half the cases.

Of the 117 people who died with the Delta variant, first identified in India, 50 (43%) had been fully vaccinated.

The table below shows why these figures are actually good news. The vast majority of people dying of covid are >60 and these are the people who have been vaccinated. There are exceedingly few deaths in those <40 who are mainly unvaccinated.

So I have added up the figures for you.Ages 0 - 19 -2 deaths in July.
20 - 39 -6 deaths.
40 - 59 -45 deaths.
60 - 79 -113 deaths
80+ -106 deaths.

The vaccines are working.
Just for completeness the highest deaths per day in February was 606.
March - 173.
April -33.
May -13.
June - 19.

And now there are three. Elderly man and presumably his two adult children. Sigh. I have no idea why after leaving Sydney he wasn't quarantining in Adelaide and tested.

3rd case in SA, another family member
Snap.

Careful using facts…. You’ll shortly be called a type of farm animal.

Any sane person would look at these tiny numbers and think “great, that’s manageable”. The problem is, will Australians ever think that way?

I think the tide is turning to be honest. SA Health FB posts used to be full of praise. Now after today? I'd say just 20% and the rest are just saying we need to learn to live with it.

Hopefully… here in my COVID free Inner West I did witness the poor Council gardener getting abused by a coronacrazie who didn’t think he should be at work, so there’s still plenty out there.

You have said elsewhere that people die anyway. Of course that's true, but we generally try to avoid things that are going to kill us. Worse still if someone else gives us something that kills us.

Maybe the number of deaths are manageable but we have a different mindset here at this point in time than they ever did in Europe and the USA. If we are going to get there it will likely be through education and communication, rather than ridicule.

I know he spent some of his quarantine in hospital, but SA only changed the rules late last week to say that those who have completed HQ in NSW would then have to do 14 days home quarantine on arrival in SA. Prior that it wasn't required which is a pretty standard arrangement.

With just 3 cases at least we still have day release, if there are a few more cases over the coming days I suspect day release privileges will be revoked and it will be home detention.
