Just thought I would post this in case anyone is interested/looking. Air New Zealand has released lots of award seats in Y & J on its Boeing 787 services between Perth and Auckland.

At 12,500 KrisFlyer miles in Y or 31,000 KrisFlyer miles in J, it's potentially a good use of SQ miles (or points with any other Star Alliance airline). You can also add on a domestic connection to anywhere else in New Zealand for no extra miles.

Not sure about that but I couldnt find any business class seat at all through krisflyer booking site, and no return flight from Christchurch to Perth either.

If you search for business class seats from PER to CHC, none will appear on the Singapore Airlines website because only economy is available on the AKL-CHC domestic connection. Have you tried just searching for PER-AKL, or checking on the United website for PER-CHC?

FWIW I booked CHC-AKL-PER last week in J (with the domestic flight in Y) using KrisFlyer miles but had to call up because the SQ website doesn’t handle mixed-cabin awards. There was tons of availability.

Hey thanks heaps for your response, did a dig for Perth to Auckland / Perth to Christchurch economy available but not business. Coming back Christchurch to Perth both economy and business not available, maybe for some reasons they shut J award tickets. But I'll wait up and see if they eventually open up some of those J tickets. Been wanting to spend some Krisflyer miles have some of them.

What dates are you looking for and how many people?

Looking at august and september flexible with time. Wanting to visit kiwi for 2 to 3 weeks, flexible with this as well.

Looking for perth to Christchurch and return.

How many seats are you after?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

that's me and my wife so two seats.

I just had a look and you're right - unfortunately Air New Zealand has pulled all the J award inventory. That's a shame - there were plenty of seats when I booked last week!

Just shows that you have to get in quick with these sorts of things... :(

Keep an eye out though, you never know if they might make some more seats available again at some point.

NZ have also just pulled all 787's in the near future between MEL and AKL and hence their Business seats, award or otherwise. (I had been tracking a late July date.)

The 787s are still scheduled on PER-AKL, so J is still available. FWIW, the cabin looks pretty much empty so far on my late-June flight.

I've set up some Expert Flyer alerts for J availability on PER-AKL and will update this thread if I see that anything becomes available.

I have been looking for any specials, unlikely I know, on that route in November/December.

I expect the 787 will be back to MEL once the bubble resumes. Probably reflects a lack of confidence in when that will happen.

Last 2 weeks of Sept is Aussie school holidays, first two weeks of October is NZ school holidays - probably explains the blackout dates.

They've pulled all award seats on that route though on all dates.

There is nothing Per-Akl after September 5th in any class through end of schedule. In case anyone was considering Qantas-nothing from Perth to NZ until Jan 2022 either. The QF availability disappeared in the last few weeks (looking at AA awards) too.
