Anyone tried to activate the Jade status bump with Amex Platinum? If so, do you remember how long it took?

I started from an existing Golden Circle account nearly two weeks ago. After a few days, Amex's enrol page was still showing pending. As of yesterday, it shows as complete. But Golden Circle online still shows as Gold (base) status.

By comparison: Hilton Honors, Marriott Bonvoy were done overnight, and Radisson Rewards took a few days. In all cases I had an existing account which I specified when enrolling.

I recently signed my mother up and it took a couple to a few weeks, but couldn't give an exact number sorry. She then did the match to KF which was virtually instant.

Thanks!

As it turns out, a day after I posted this I got a welcome email from Golden Circle, inviting me to activate my new account! But of course since Amex gave them my same email as used on the original account I thought they'd preserve, I couldn't activate.

In their defence, once I emailed Golden Circle they responded in a few minutes, having linked the email to my new account which is now activated. It has Jade status, and they've moved across my existing reservation and say the points should come across within a few days.

I find the Golden Circle support to be very good, in emails at least.

I just wish Accor were as accommodating on merging two accounts (have one with Gold and some points and another with Accor Plus/Silver and other points).

It appears that the Golden Circle Jade membership is no longer available as a Platinum benefit - at least for existing members (with professional association membership). Checked online just now 😞

You may have to contact Golden Circle direct. This is just my experience, I held GC Jade status and when I did not re-qualify I used my AMEX via the enrol page, that did not work online. After calling GC they looked into the case and Jade membership was back on the cards within a couple of days. I assume they could see the Hotel bookings paid with my AMEX however the email account used for GC (original account) and AMEX were not associated.

The only other issue I have had was when my AMEX card was replaced (lost card) with a new account number, I had to contact AMEX and ask them to confirm with GC my account continuity to ensure points were not lost. Although many reward programs may like to come across as seamless some of the back end systems are not integrated and need manual intervention

I just checked my GC account online and it is stated somewhere that the Jade membership is until 2021 YE (most likely due to pandemic extension). However, the GC Jade membership is no longer mentioned on Amex website platinum benefits page, thus no link to an online enrolment page. Not a concern for existing members at the moment but likely the Jade status won’t be renewed without meeting the qualifying stay requirements (as in the case in the past)

I called to clarify this after seeing this on the benefits page as well. The operator was most helpful but said she wasn't aware of this, and that it wasn't being cancelled. I referred to it being listed as a benefit on the application but not benefits page, but she mentioned it was likely an error... the plot thickens.

Does this only apply to professional association cards?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks to both @Actos and @Daver6. My Platinum Charge Card was via(?) CPA Australia. I have been enjoying the GC Jade status for the past few years. I checked my Amex online access (after logging in) and the Platinum Benefits page no longer list Shangri-la under Hotel Elite status benefits. I even scrolled through the detailed T&Cs and still the only 3 programs listed (other than Accor Plus) are:
Best scenario for me is it is simply a mistake. Or, it may be the start of differentiating benefit/features between the "general" and the "discounted" (via professional bodies) membership
