A seven-hour scenic flight around Australia ?

We're all different, but I couldn't think of a greater waste of time in any sphere, particularly if one lacked a window seat or had to 'swap' halfway through.
Neither of those will apply to me, it’s a Saturday, I’m off work and no plans in suburban NSW.

For those questioning the zero SC in the booking engine - this would be because the origin/destination doesn't existing as a city pair in the SC calculator API. The booking engine calls the API for this info, it's not manually populated.

The original marketing stated SC would be earned so I expect this is still the case.

Since it's in the marketing, QF have no choice but to provide the SC's as advertised. Besides they'd almost be crazy not to as it works towards that goal of keeping the golden handcuffs on the most valuable flyers.

The terms also stated there would be no seat swapping. Couples sitting together (separated by the spare seat) excepted I would assume.

Kudos to QF for planning this and selling it out. Started me thinking about my dream Aust itinerary, although distances in between the highlights are a bit of a bugger. Imagine if you could take in FNQ, Great Barrier Reef, Uluru, the main eastern capitals, peaks and Tasmania's national parks (sorry not sure what's good from the air in WA), and in between get a proper (not NP) tasting menu or First lounge massage / facial in J :p
I’d book if there was a flight from Perth. Imagine spotting a whale shark in the Ningaloo marine park! Then various gorges up north, the red earth of Broome, Uluru, Lake Ayre, and swaths of wildflowers blanketing the landscape.

and fuel and maintenance and any perceived environmental credentials. Utterly pointless exercise only for those with lives so dull and empty they can't think of anything better to do that sit on a plane to nowhere for 7 hours. I'm on a plane again Tuesday for 2 hours and whilst that's necessary, I would rather be doing almost anything else including my FY20 tax return instead!

I wouldn't mind doing my tax return in J on a 7h scenic flight. After a few champagne, I might even get creative and try to tax deduct the cost of the flight 🤣

Well, simulators cannot keep pilots current for long, and whilst most are now long out of recency this sort of exercise keeps at least a few of the training Captains legal, and thus able to be used to help restart flying, whenever that happens. A restart with no current crew would be beyond difficult...I don't know how you'd do it.

If you do get SC earn, let us know.
Some on here mentioned yes, some no.
If Aust domestic borders open by Jun next year, I can get my flying kicks again.
Look forward to yours and others pics.

I think the confusion was simply because of the booking engine.

The actual promo invite stated there are SCs but if you went to book, the booking engine showed 0. It was explained by another poster that this was due to the API for calculating distance seeing the same start and end point and allocating 0 SCs. This caused the confusion.

Ah, there is quite lots of pics on "meetings and social events".
Thanks to all those who took onplane photos.
Took a quick look there, looking forward to window views from plane to ground.
Edit: great pics too in the linkage above.
