Canberra Airport is now temporarily closing on Saturdays because there are no flights, and it may also need to close on Tuesdays.

According to the ABC, just 86 people flew in & out of CBR yesterday compared to 9,000 people in normal times.

Wow.

And now they are planning to close all together on 1 October unless something changes.

My recommendation for Canberra Airport would be to undertake major runway and infrastructure works to prevent access to either runway by the RAAF. This may focus the attention of the federal government on the impact of arbitrary and crippling border restrictions.

Given the RAAF Base beside CBR airport transports the PM etc I doubt the FEDGOV would have any hesitation resuming occupancy should there be any hint of a denial of access by the current owner.

It's not a denial of access. it's "maintenance." It's also no longer a RAAF Base, it's Defence Facility Fairbairn.
