Strategy to obtain US Amex

have the correct paper work to open a Chase business checking account. Make a deposit then speak to business banker about applying for business credit cards. Chase Ink Preferred believe have a 80k SUB with $5k spend.

Did I miss something, since when have you been able to apply for Chase cards with only an ITIN? I thought they stopped that a fair while ago....??..

I actually have no idea and only basing the assumption on the application and it lists
SSN/ITIN

Do you have a Chase credit card rock86? They seem ideal being a visa and some of the great products available.

Thanks ithongy,

I am not too familiar with the LLC and how it helps to apply for US credit cards, can you give a brief rundown? All the applications I have seen request a SSN or ITIN.

Does this help with applying for the business versions maybe?

I just always read that you should open one in Delaware.
Yes you can obtain a biz card with an LLC and EIN.

Cost. The elephant in the room.

I thought that you already had an ITIN?
No I don`t though I intend applying. The EIN service apparently can help obtain an ITIN for the cost of approx US $400 and the approx US $80 in tax that would be liable on filing of your return.

OK. Thanks. Maybe I was thinking of your USA trip proposed for a few months ago, where you were looking at opening a bank account. Like with most of us, that probably didn’t happen.

Unfortunately it didn`t happen and as per the radio today may not happen until 2024 and possibly beyond if we have a young family by then. shame!
I did manage to remotely open an HSBC checking and savings and 2 credit card accounts through premier though!

Just applied and approved for Bonvoy business card. I used ITIN but still have to call as it is the first time using ITIN and they would like to confirm the details. A quick 2 minute call, I got approved on the spot. Since ITIN is in their system now, my future application should be good.

If you don't have ITIN, you can still get Amex business cards. You might need to call since online application might insist on ITIN. People were approved using Global Transfer as well.

I already have a basic personal bonvoy which is no longer available unless you downgrade from the premium one.

The reason I went for this business card is it's the only card that 15 elite nights stack with a personal card. Having 2 of these cards cost $220 USD but with 30 elite nights (gold status) + 2 free night certificates, I think it is a great deal. I normally use free night cer at St Regis Bangkok (about $350-$400 AUD a night). 20 nights to platinum is more manageable for me since we are not loyal to one brand. Would be even easier now as Marriott is giving 50% of Elite nights based on status in 2019.

The only thing is I'm not sure if I applied too early :p
HI, I tried to get a business AMEX twice now and cannot get it... and weird part is no one at AMEX can forward me to the Global team that is on their website!

FYI I have a Platinum Biz in Aus (over $1m spend a year), I have a US Incorporation with bank accounts at BoA and personal BoA account and even an unsecured BoA credit card. Have an EIN but no SSN of course. Got the accounts/cards via passport only. Any suggestions? ps. I applied by phone

Do you have any US amex personal card? If not, I think it might be easier to get a personal card first. I didn't see many DPs on GT business card as most started with personal ones but it is definitely possible..

Not sure what number you called. They list the numbers on GT page

For Personal card: call the U.S. Global Card Transfer team at 877-621-2639, available 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week.

For Business card: call the U.S. Global Card Transfer team at 877-673-6936 or 800-433-3550 available from 07:00 to 24:00 Eastern Standard Time, 7 days a week.

I think the first card is approved under GT and subsequent cards are approved on their own merit - my first card is a CC and the second is the Green charge card.

I think they are too, just wanted to make sure.
)

Charge cards are included as they as they should be.

I applied for an Amex Hilton aspire card yesterday. I rang the US number and asked for a global transfer application. i was told to apply as a normal application. I knew the outcome of the application will be rejected hence I specifically asked for the Global transfer team. CSO advised that I had to do a normal application first and if it gets rejected I will be transfer to the global transfer team. My initial application was rejected and I was transferred to the Global Transfer team who was able to approve the card. I am now crossing my fingers that the card will safely arrived at myus. My question to all the people who have a US card, what is the cheapest way to transfer money to pay off your card if you do not have an US income or holding USD??

I personally use xe transfer and it’s not cheap, US$20 flat for each transaction. The best thing is to have a US Bank A/c but that’s not likely to happen anytime soon, unless you can make adequate deposit & open something like the Premier with HSBC. You can go through previous posts on the forum for more on this.

Also, why were you so confident your application will be rejected to start off? That’s not the normal, or even average outcome on the basis of results from people who have obtained cards on this forum? On the normal application, there is no requirement to supply SSN OR ITIN, so really, there isn’t particularly any reason to apply over the phone anymore.

well, they asked for my income and I just quoted my australian income and I was assuming that they will not recognised overseas income as part of the application.

Having a tough time dealing with MyUS. Had my Aspire card shipped to them with a premium account. FedEx says the card has been delivered but MyUS has not logged the package under my suite. Their customer service phone number is not answered, have filled out the support form but no reply as of yet. Package was delivered on 22/07 and MyUS is processing packages from 24/07 so something is definitely not correct.
Tried talking to Amex, they asked me to Notary Cam for them to send the card to AU but Notary Cam asks for account number which I don't have yet.
Any thoughts on a workaround?

Had a similar experience for the account number they asked me to put 15 "9" digits. But it's been 2.5 wks for me and still no response.

Called amex up a few times and they told me they haven't received anything from notarycam yet. Told them I didn't put my actual account number on the form, as I didn't have it. They told me it's not an issue as they match with the name and other details. Suggested to me to contact notarycam directly. Contacted notarycam and they said they sent to amex ages ago and fobbed me right back to amex.

They are unwilling to communicate with each other. Asking me to contact directly. Whole situation is hopeless.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they all/most have COVID at MyUS (Florida). Who knows? That won’t do much for processing. 😕

Provided that Amex has included your suite # in the address, then you have a good chance that it will be processed properly at MyUS, eventually.

Back in January, my Aspire was properly addressed and processed, although they took a few days to forward it from Sarasota. Customer Service wasn’t too good, because when I contacted them by phone to confirm progress, they couldn’t locate it in their system even though they had it in their warehouse as it turned out.

Edited

Looks like my Hilton aspire card has been delivered by fedex to myus. I think my nightmare is just about to begin..... i will probably wait for 10 days to log the card to my suite...

Hi I'm new to this but have been interested in getting a US Amex credit card so wanted to ask a few questions. Firstly is it possible to sign up for a free Amex credit card and then fill out an Amex Global Transfer form. Secondly how long do you need to hold onto the Amex credit for before requesting for the global trasnfer form?

It shouldn't matter whether its a free card or one with an annual fee, what will matter though is the length and quality of your relationship with Amex. I am not sure there's any written text around it, but I would say a minimum of 6-12 months, the longer the better.
