Sitting at OOL waiting to take QF595 back to SYD. Special water cannon salute and what seemed to be a fairly full inbound.

Just thought I'd share given flying is a rare occurrence these days.

Or was it reopening of QLD borders?

Could be either tbh. There's a JQ coming shortly which doesn't look to receive the same treatment.

Ironcially the road border just behind the runway is crawling along.

I flew to BNE today from NTL. Full flight.

My God. QLD is over the top. Seems like half the Army and half of QPOL was there to welcome me and check my border pass. Considering they only stop one of every three or four cars in the M1, I’m not sure why 5 different police officers have to view my pass and question me?

But the government has an election to win, please don’t mock us 😂

Makes like entering a different country via a border in South East Asia/South America, eh?

Understandable given the fears of becoming the "Northern Victoria" :p

I saw a report last night suggesting there were 50,000 (!) people of various sorts involved in policing the NSW/Vic border. Dunno about the SA border but they certainly have police mobilised on that side too as some loser was caught trying to sneak in after being stopped earlier.

It seems insane that a state of Australia is effectively cut off from the rest of the land and as such Australians are not actually permitted into other parts of their own country but this is the time of Covid so this is where we are at.

I may only be slightly envious of everyone who isn;t from Vic allowed to go up and enjoy warmer climes right about now!! :)
